It's ************************ that we can't watch all games. We're the only country in the world that ESPN doesn't broadcast the weeks' full game schedule!!! write ESPN!!!to stop this stupidity!!!!
Either learn to enjoy your strong man competitions or learn spanish and pick up ESPN Deportes. I don't see them changing their ways unless ESPN had monster numbers for these semifinal matches.
You better write two letters. I've asked them replace the Champion's League with a WUSA "Classic Replay" from two seasons ago. Sachin
Re: Re: Everybody please harass ESPN to broadcast all champions league here in the U.S.!!!!!! It can work!
Newbies should not start threads Don't you think.....that if there were enough people who could or would protest loudly enough to make a difference....that ESPN wouldn't have dropped the Champions League in the first place?
I don't care about CL. I would watch it if it were available, and in the future I hope the entire tournament (or a great deal of it) will be on espn deportes. But I am looking forward to watching MLS shootout KCvNE tonight. CL is not going to help soccer grow in the USA, but MLS will.
Champion League on tee vee? I can't get upset about that, what really upsets me worse is they don't have a ArenaFootball League2 game of the week on! I wanna see the Wichita Stealth versus the Hawaii Islanders in the battle for first place in National West Conference this coming Friday. How fair is it we can't watch America's sport on it's on tee vee network? Champion League must follow this..
And by the way, the Hawaii Islanders are undefeated at home, so the Stealth will have a hard challenge ahead of them...
No joke. I love top-shelf European football as much as the next guy, but I would gladly trade every EPL and CL match I currently get on television for a weekly MLS match with wide distribution. Oh wait - we are pretty much there already. Nearly every game is available on TV now if you get Shootout, and even if you don't you can get your weekly fix. MLS on TV is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more important than CL.
Problem is i miss most of the games as they start at the same time 7:30. Even with 2 tv's and VCR i have to scramble ESPN 2 game at 4 pm ends at 6pm. Then hop into my car and drive to Giants stadium for a 7:30 game, might make it if traffic ain't to bad. By the time i get home is almost 11 pm. Now i have at least two games taped to watch. Now between CL games, Nat team games and staying married it aint easy task. Damn i wish i was single between April and November.
It's my understanding that ESPN Deportes, with all the matches we are currently missing, will become widely available in the U.S. in September. Look for it. I've also heard that upwards of 60% of the matches shown will have SAP, so they'll be available in both English or Spanish.
Get a DirecTV receiver with TiVo. Of course, my problem is that my wife claims I watch too much football. Little does she know that while I still have a season pass for the EPL on FSW, I practically universally delete those. Too much MLS now that we are in season. Of course, when the Crew are home that blows my entire day, since the wife wants to visit her parents, and we have to take the dog, and it's 90 minutes one way, and ... I usually don't get around to watching MLS Wrap until midday on Sunday, 'cause I'm busy catching up on the other games.
Why does ESPN bid for the US english language rights to the CL games if they aren't going to broadcast them?
So they can get the rights for other countries where people actually watch soccer. Lucky for us, the terms of the contract require a minimum of one game per week to be broadcast or we might not even see that. Just hope ESPN does SAP for ESPN Deportes next year and all will be well.
Does anyone know if the united states is going to receive ESPN deportes? will this be offered on normal satellite? any info will help~ cheers~ phishy
If you really want to influence ESPN, convince people you know -- LOTS of them -- to tune in the ESPN2 MLS telecasts and the MNT matches. Build the numbers, and they will show more soccer; build it big and build it steady. Prove that there is a large, profit-turning audience for soccer, because ESPN is in business to make money. Period. Otherwise, we're just a bunch of fanatics that barely register on the radar screen. ... come to think of it....
So while ESPN were not showing Real-Juve this afternoon, they show Streetball on ESPN and Drag Racing repeat on ESPN2. More people watch these than the CL? It's not like they have to buy the CL coverage because they already have the rights and show it in other parts of the world.
Well, ESPN and the local cable outfits have a lot more avails in Streetball and Drag Racing than they do in a Champions League game. Most cable advertising is based on the network's overall ratings and demand and the daypart.
And1 Mixtape Tour makes a handsome profit. It's the sports version of Girls Gone Wild. The 30 minute show is essentially an infomercial for And1 shoes, apparel and videos.
And unless those people happen to be Neilsen families, this will have NO effect on the numbers whatsoever and will have been a complete waste of time and effort.
