Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread No, I don't...you're exactly right...but come on, we all knew deep down inside that they weren't going to sell out every game. The FO knew it too. I just think they made too big a deal about the "best case scenario" that we knew was impossible. I think it was for PR but no harm done, really.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread What kind of line-up can we expect the Silverbacks to put out in 2007?
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread I do not know what kind of answer you are looking for here but in my mind the only certain starters from last year are probably Hayes, Bobo and Omar in the back, Rios and Buete in the middle and Salles and maybe Antuniuk up front. Quintero will be the keeper. They have a substantially deeper roster with more speed in the midfield and more firepower up front. They should be solid on the back line because of some recent signings of experienced players. The Silverbacks are going to make a great run for it this year. How is that for optimism? Edit: You might get some discussion on this if you pose the question on the Silverbacks USL discussion boards.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Hey oldie, are there any PDL players breaking through the senior team? I really think that would be good publicity for the club (if they were good enough).
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Last year was the first U23 campaign and I do not think They were in a position to supply players to the pro team. You will see a more talented PDL squad this season and perhaps in two or three years we will see some promotions.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread I really think that will help the "grassroots" image. It's going to be cool to see a kid go from playing with the Silverbacks youth team all the way to the senior team. From what i've heard, I hate that they have received so much grief for trying to establish the academy system here. I really think it would be nice if the Silverbacks would become the all-star team for all ages for the city of Atlanta and one day the state of Georgia and a good chunk of the south.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Justin Moore is coming to the Silverbacks for '07.....include him in your lineup and expect a better defense/team as a result.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread I hope you are right about Justin coming in and if he does, he will make a great addition to the squad.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread What about McManus (sp?)? Id he still with Atlanta? There's a local boy for you
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Just need to get his brother, Jason, on the team too. Blake Camp would make a good signing too.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread McManus is still with the club. He is the enforcer in the midfield, but competition will be fierce at his position as it will with all of the starting spots. Everyone on the roster will log a lot of minutes this year. The Silverbacks should be deeper than at anytime in the past.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread looking at the Silverbacks roster, they seem to be very short on defense. There's only one GK and three defenders. Has there been any word on increasing our depth in this area? Also, news: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=492195 the Impact are increasing their salary by 20% to keep up with Toronto FC as the top Canadian club. What kind of implications does this have for the Silverbacks? On another note...here are players that were drafted by a MLS team that i haven't heard any word on them being signed by their club team or waived(so maybe Atlanta could pick them up): -GK Busch, Jon (waived by CMB) -D Chris Leitch (waived by CMB) -M Jose Retiz (waived by CMB) -M Ivan Becerra (waived by CMB) -F Kephren Fuller (almost signed with Cambuur. from GA) -D Helton, Kyle (from GA!!! former member of US youth national teams. 20 yrs old drafted #51 by NER.) -F Burling, Bobby (drafted #45 by LAG, 6'5 FW from Colorado) -F Andrew Daniels (drafted by Dallas #18 21 yrs from WI) -M Josh Tudela (22 yrs.rafted #20 by LAG from Indiana) -M Nate Norman (21 yrs. drafted #21 by Chicago from Michigan) -D Ty Harden (22 yrs. drafted #23 by LAG from Oregon) -F Brad North (21 yrs. drafted #24 by DCU from TX) -M Scott Jones (23 yrs. drafted #28 by Dallas from TX) -F Edson Elcock (22 yrs. drafted #29 by KCW from NY) -M Steve Curfman (20 yrs. drafted #30 by RSL from NC) -F Omar Cummings (24 yrs. drafted #31 by Colorado from Jamaica) -M Mike Banner (22 yrs. drafted #34 by Chicago frm DC) -M Nick LaBrocca (22 yrs. drafted #35 by Colorado. from NJ.) -G Justin Hughes (21 yrs. drafted #36 by COL. from NC.) -M Ricky Schramm (21 yrs. drafted #37 by DCU. from NY.) -M Bryan Byrne (24 yrs. drafted #38 by NER. from Ireland) -F Mike Sambursky (22 yrs. drafted #39 by HOU. from TX) -F Jeff Gonsalves (20 yrs. drafted #40 by TOR. from Canada) -F Kurt Morsinik (22 yrs. drafted #42 by KCW. from Costa Rica) -F Tommy Krizinovic (22 yrs. drafted #43 by DAL. from Croatia) -D Cameron Dunn (22 yrs. drafted #46 by CHV. from CA) -F Simon Omekanda (22 yrs. drafted #47 by CHI. from MI) -F Ben Hunter (21 yrs. drafted #49 by CMB. from England) -M Eric Ebert (22 yrs. drafted #52 by HOU. from CA) Others from the supplemental draft: John Di Raimondo (MF. 20 yrs. COL. from MO), Zach Kirby (22 yrs. LAG. from GEORGIA!!!), Jared Kent (24 yrs. FW. RSL. from GEORGIA!!!), Chris Loftus (22. NER. from IL), Chase Wileman (20 yrs. DAL. from TX), Dustin Kirby (22 yrs. RSL. from Ohio. Zach Kirby's brother?), Willy Guadarrama (22 yrs. KCW. from TX.) ***If it were possible, i'd really like to see the Silverbacks try to bring in: Kyle Helton, Jon Busch (highly unlikely), Josh Tudela, Andrew Daniels, Kephren Fuller, Steve Curfman, Ty Harden, Zach Kirby & Dustin Kirby, Chris Loftus, Scott Jones, Jared Kent, Chase Wileman, Willy Guadarrama, Mike Sambursky, Justin Hughes, and/or John DiRaimondo ...along with maybe Lawson Vaughn, Marshall Leonard, Blake Camp, and Justin Moore.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread I believe all of the vacant spots have been filled. We are just waiting on official announcements.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Are you smoking something? The Law isn't leaving LA anytime soon.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Do you know him or something? (not sarcasm...have to be clear since it's hard to know someone's tone of voice on the internet) He isn't getting much pt with Chivas, and i think he's getting the minimum salary with them also...thus, i would think there could be a possibility that he may want to return home.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread He played in 17 of 32 games last season as a 3rd round draft pick, I don't think he has too much to complain about. He's more than likely under a 2 or 3 year contract, so he couldn't just leave. The Silverbacks wouldn't pay a transfer fee to get his contract, why would they get into some bidding war with MLS over a defender like Vaughn? He's a very solid player, but not a game changer.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread as well as starting and playing the full 90 in both playoff games against Houston....like El Guero Naco said, he isn't leaving LA anytime soon
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/news/displaynews.php?id=364&cat=1 Silverbacks add three defenders.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Very interesting additions. The Hudson guy does not have alot of history but is very young. Backs are probably hoping he will develop.
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread I thought they were getting Justin Moore...also, are they going to add another GK to the team?
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread http://3rddegree.matchnight.com/thirdindex.cfm?page=article&show=20374 You guys need to check the USLdiscussion boards for the Silverbacks and you will probably get more up to date info. http://www.usldiscussions.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=33
Re: Support Atlanta Silverbacks in 2007 Thread Are there any friendlies with the Silverbacks and a MLS team this season...@ home?
