Okay, it's a rumor, and at this stage in the year folks will print anything. Anyone heard anything more substantial (or has this been discussed ad naseum and I missed it).

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/6410603.stm

Would seem to cement Boca's place in the defense.
    The original, in the Sun:
    http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-10151,00.html

And it's a short note, here's what they said: "FULHAM will offload ex- England defender Zat Knight in the summer.

Knight, 26, was axed from the 16-man squad for Saturday’s home defeat by Manchester United after a horror show in the 4-0 FA Cup drubbing by Spurs a week earlier.

Birmingham asked about Knight in January and the Cottagers will allow him to go for around £2million."

If that were true, which it can't be, I wonder how much Boca would be worth.....

Zat's played better this season than in the past but he still blows more than a whore in Amsterdam. He shows signs of being a servicable EPL player every now and then but he's at the CCC level at best. Boca has asserted himself as a first chioce option but it would be nice to see Zat hit the road.

The reason I have a hard time believing the rumor is that for most of this year, Knight has been a very good defender, especially for a club of Fulham's size and ambition. I've been among the Zatdetractors the previous couple of seasons, and have agreed that Coleman was costing his team points and goals by starting him ahead of Bocanegra. But not this year.

If the article made reference to off-field problems rather than the Spurs match, I, personally, would find it more credible.

Well, I'd find it more credible if it weren't 1. The Sun and 2. Early March. But I see your point.;)

2mm couldn't possibly be the right number. After all, sidefootsitter told us all that Knight would command 5 times that amount:

I hope this doesn't mean that sidefootsitter has no clue what he's talking about! It's like my entire world view is turning upside down ;)

Even after his current cold streak, Zat Knight is current rated as a "6.4" by Sky.

    Anton Ferdinand is at 6.0.

    Ferdinand may fetch £10M himself.

    Knight ain't going to Colaship.

In fact, Cookie may go before Zat. (especially if Al Fayed sells the team)

Ferdinand's also five years younger than Knight.

He is and, obviously, if Knight continues to play like in that 4:0 loss to Tottenham, his value will be going lower and lower.

But he was playing very well earlier in the season before his jaw injury and is a very physically talented defender. If Fulham doesn't want him, there'll be plenty of takers.

This would be great for Boca

Well there is tons of time to see if this works out

He could always go to a team at the bottem

I can't see Birmingham doing this. For those of you who aren't familiar with the recent happenings at Birmingham.

-Matthew Upson left, he was the best of the backline
-Stephen Kelly, recently bought from Tottenham, hasn't impressed
-Olivier Tebily, Matthew Sadler, and Jaidi have done alright for CCC level
-Right now I think the best defender is N'Gotty and he is 35

No doubt Gold will provide the money to improve the backline, but I'm thinking Steve Bruce will try to find a solid Championship defender to help him our rather than someone who has committed so many errors like Z. Knight.

Bruce has gone on to sign hungry young players like Larrson, McSheffrey, and Vine.

I have been under the impression that Boca was out of contract at the end of this year.

I thought he signed a 3.5 year deal when he signed in Jan 04.

Am I remembering incorrectly? Did he sign an extension or is he done at the end of this year at Fulham?
