I got an email that a majority of people like cheerleaders ... to which I reply:

KSE should have some morals. You have a sport that promotes equality among the sexes - and here you are showing little girls that they shouldn't be soccer players - they should be vain little sex toys cheering on men instead of putting on the boots and kicking men's asses.

Wonder when that survey was done? Must have missed it.

"Our exit polls showed 50.1% of the fans like the cheerleaders...+ or - 42%, of course."

In theory, I agree the cheerleaders seem out of place. In principal, I will always say more cheerleaders, never fewer.

I simply dont get it! How can anyone not want cheerleaders? Of course, they should not interfere in the game, but having them along with it doesn't hurt anyone - except maybe some bra burning feminists, but who cares?
Cheerleaders are awsome!!! I love cheerleaders!!!

1 - American Corporate Athletic Marketing. The are selling entertainment, cheerleaders and dancers are part of the show. Plus they are great for PR. It's not bluster, the cheerleaders are popular, and they are in demand by the community. It's amazing how many calls KSE gets for appearances by Rapids cheerleaders. Corporate budgets are too tight to pay for unpopular extras.

2 - Your wife will be too busy looking at the guy cheerleaders to complain about what you're looking at. Hard to call it sexist when the squad is coed.

3 - When a 6 foot, 230 lbs acrobat tosses 2 girls 8 feet in the air and holds them up one in each hand, you may want to reconsider who you’re insulting. Can you hold 200 lbs over your head and smile? Come to tryouts and try it, you may learn something.

4 - American Soccer, American cheerleaders. If you don’t like muscle heads tossing cheerleaders in the air while the Dancers shake their poms, maybe you paid for the tickets because you’re a soccer fan, and you can’t make the next Arsenal match. The cheerleaders are a side show and half time entertainment. If you're there for the soccer, the cheers are easy to ignore.

5 - Cheerleaders are at every High School and College. Rapids Cheers are family friendly, they teach cheer camps for the kids and do PR at elementary schools. All the signatures the cheers sign after games are to kids waiting at the ramp. Come on guys, do your homework! These are not the Chivas Girls. These are All American Cheer Leaders. The outfits are not that skimpy.

6 - Besides, those NCAA Cheerleaders need a hobby after they graduate. Cheering for the Rapids is a part time gig, and the squad is a mix of students and people with full time careers. The budget is small, and the compensation is token at best.

7 - Are these the most organized and best performing Cheerleaders out there? No. The Broncos, CU, CSU have better programs for certain. But KSE is learning, and the Cheerleaders are part of the show. One of these days KSE may learn to let the cheer leaders actually cheer at games, rather than hide them in the corner only to let them out to perform at halftime.

8 - Yeah, American Football and Basketball have lots of breaks in the game and are better suited to cheerleading than Soccer. But when I go to a Stadium and shell out bucks for tickets, I want a cold beer, warm nachos, and hot cheerleaders. KSE is banking on that, and they aim to please. Unfortunatley they do that to the point that you see cheerleaders in a sports bra and skirt freezing in 40 degree weather. Ever notice that the Bronocs cheerleaders have an outfit for cold weather, while the Rapids girls just turn blue and shiver in a skirt? I never understood the appeal of that image.

'nuff said, getting off the soap box.

I like the way you worded this. They aren't that hard to ignore if you're not into them.

Nothing pisses me off more than cold nacho cheese, something I encountered regularly at Invesco. Here's to the Dick having warm cheese.....................

Dude The nacho cheese at pepsi center is awful too. YUCK! (reason enough for me to ignore the Nugs)

As far as cheerleaders go, I like em, my daughter likes em, she needs to be entertained so I can watch the game.

What else are you going to look at when the Rapids are getting their asses kicked? I say keep them, sometimes we need a distraction from whats going on on the field.

Well let's see... you want the GAME to catch fire in the US... so instead of educating the fan, you dumb it down for the idiot... You know, if I want tits and ass, I'll just go to the Diamond for the lunch buffet... What are you going to say to an idiot who comes to see Beckham, and is underwhelmed because he scores a goal on a follow-up and gathers an assist from a perfect cross? They'll never appreciate it, but you think they'll come back for some jailbait in a short skirt??? not f**king hardly...

The Cheerleaders are a joke, if you want them, trot them out at the beginning and at halftime, but for F***'s sake keep them in the lockerroom during the game...

At least we won't need to deal with them in our new seats. We're too close to the pitch to have a squad of people between us and the game. I'm betting they'll have them over on the opposite side by the player tunnel and the staging area.

    Probably get arrested!

Netlancer, can't tell if you're KSE or dance team. Regardless, our "oh-so-incredible" cheer squad are not in sports bras in 40-degree weather. Unless they are wearing them under their sweats.

If you're at a sporting event for the tittilation, may I direct you to Kitty's. Unless you have no self control, you'll get more bang for the buck. And since I'm shelling out $600 for soccer I'm expecting to get to see that, relatively uninterrupted.

I'm tired of looking at the big screen for a play that happened 70 yards away, only to see the cheerleaders on said big screen. I have 100-plus hours every week to admire the fairer sex. When I walk into the ground on match day, it's business time. Put the f*****g soccer on, and leave it on! If they simply must make an appearance, trot them out at halftime.

They throw like girls; which is to say I'm tired of getting hit in the head with schwag (see: cheap leftover crap from the rest of the league) that doesn't even have a Rapids logo on it.

The supporters groups are supposed to be leading the cheers. Maybe some day soon, we will be.

It was a professional, not personal, dislike of the Splash (back in the day) and that extends to the current crop of on-field distractions.

Sorry Ringshot and outforkicks, Chelseas got NOTHING on Daniela!

If you need me, I'll be with HiF at the Diamond, NOT spending $600 to watch soccer.

I'm with ya. It's not about some pureist "that's how they do it in Europe" sort of thing for me. I watch a movie for a good story; if I want to see boobs I'll rent porn. Likewise when I go to soccer, give me the game. I don't need NoncheerNonLeaders (afterall I've never heard them cheer nor lead anything at the game) out during the game. Want to have them do their thing during half-time? I'm all for it. But having scantly clad women, as wonderful as it is to have scantly clad women around, just isn't what I want during the game. To me it's just in the same ball park as Sepp Blatter's comments about women's soccer needing the women wearing tighter clothing to get more popular.

I'm not even sure I want to see them perform at halftime. My favorite halftime bitches are the Frisbee dogs. Woof, in a good way!

LOL at this post. You are joking, right? KSE have no morals? Sex toys? They are showing girls they shouldn't be soccer players? Wow, what in the world are you talking about?

I took my kids to a boys high school basketball game the other week. Were the girl cheerleaders that were there showing girls they shouldn't play basketball?

My daughter plays basketball. She plays soccer, too. In fact, we're one of those cute, quaint, families you have heard about that frequent Rapids games. But not the Bulldog. And despite being full season ticket holders for many years, and thus having probably spent more money on the Rapids than most, we're apparently not 'true' fans because...we don't belong to the supporters clubs...which supposedly are not very kid-friendly anyway. I hear I need to leave the family at home, go buy a single game ticket, sit in 108, and hey presto, I'm suddenly a 'true' Rapids fan. Anyways, I digress...

Every year I take my daughter to the womens NCAA basketball tournament at the Pepsi Center. They have girl - and boy - cheerleaders there, too. What do you make of all that? Tell me about the morals involved and the message you think it sends. Should I not be taking her? I mean, I take her because she likes basketball and to help further promote her interest in basketball, which I can assure you it does. Whereas you, if I'm understanding you, are saying the girl cheerleaders there will have quite the oposite affect on her?
