To the best of my knowledge, Eddie Pope is mute.

Eddie does the talkin [sic] and the writer does the writing. Blame the writer.

He's a very quiet man who answered me with responses like, "Yes, ma'am," and "No, ma'am."

Thats what makes it funny. Apparently the writer thinks Eddie doesn't know the difference between steel that you find in a mill and stealing from someone. Spellcheck wouldn't work since the word wasn't misspelled. If they had some kind of grammar check that would be the implement to use.

Well, the grammar check wouldn't have caught that, because steel can also be used as a verb. As in,

"I steeled myself for a loss." Like, hardened or prepared.

On MetroStars GameNight tonight he repeatedly made references to playing in "New York". So he's not very good at geography either.

Eddie was just referring to Friedel's availability - you know the man of steel - when he is on the pitch the TriColores fans and Latino US fans are stolen away.

This thread is about Eddie Pope, not Marcelo Balboa.

Except when being roughed up by Stoichkov. Never see him flip on anybody like that before the DC-Metro game.

This was three years ago, but I always found Eddie to be a pleasure to interview. Yes, soft spoken. Yes, short answers. But he's quite thoughtful if you ask the right questions and get him talking.

Eddie is clearly a Tar Heel. Talented, intelligent and modest.

Crestuden, you are obviously an idiot because Eddie didn't write the article.

As someone that works at UNC, I have to say I disagree on all 3 counts. Arrogant, parochial, and not terribly bright are generally what I encounter here.
