Hi, all! There was a nice feature/interview on GolTV News with Chase Hilgenbrinck. GolTV will be on again tonight at 12 EST, and tomorrow at noon I think, so for those of you that want to catch it... He mentioned the food that he has needed to get used to, plus he touches upon the clothing of the "huasos" (Chilean cowboys). He also mentioned that he played in Clemson with Gooch. To give you a glimpse of how he's been: Nublense are currently 2nd in the 2nd division, and would play against Coquimbo Unido (from the 1st div) in a playoff (for promotion). He has been one of the most consistent performers with the team this year, too, generally as a fullback or center back. He has even scored some important goals, including two in the derby against Curico Unido. Thumbs up to Chase! Metro
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) I would so watch that if I had GolTV now! THanks for th eheads up
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) Always liked him as a college player, not surprised he's doing well. Hope he gets to move up to the first division next season.
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) Here is a link to the teams website, there you can view his pix http://www.losdiablosrojos.cl/fotos/thumbnails.php?album=7
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) Nublense will be in 1st division next season, Good news for Chase
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) Yes! First time in over 25 yrs. I have a friend that plays for Nublense's U18s, and he actually met Chase the other day....just thought I would share that with you guys. Metro
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) I figured it would be a nice idea to try to follow Chase's/Nublense's progress in this upcoming '07 season. Hopefully, Bradley has him in mind for the Gold Cup or the Copa America. Here is a list of the signings Nublense has made (as well as a list of names of players who could potentially sign): http://www.terra.cl/deportes/index.cfm?accion=movidas&idequipo=716259 As I hear anything in regards to Nublense (and specially to Chase) I will post it accordingly. DJ Countess? Hi, all! Antofagasta (a team from my country of origin--Chile) is apparently looking to sign a GK, and this article indicates that it could be DJ Countess: http://www.latercera.cl/medio/articulo/0,0,3308_5804_250941707,00.html You may have to create a login account in order to see it; they also misspelled his 1st name as "Delvin": I am assuming it's the same one as there can't be too many Countess American GKs abroad, no? It says that he was in Sweden till recently--could anyone confirm? Metro
Re: DJ Countess? Thats gotta be him. I know he was looking for a club in Europe, I remember Sweden and France, but good for him. Following in the steps of Jonny Walker!
Re: DJ Countess? Is he out of contract with Osters IF? I thought he played relatively well for them at the end of last season.
Re: DJ Countess? He was signed until the end of the 05-06 season and then was looking in Romania. Of course, since Chile's wine is just as good as Romania's ... below is some info on the city http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antofagasta
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) Hi, all! Currently, Chase's team--Nublense--sits in the middle of the table in Chile (with three draws). http://www.terra.cl/deportes/estadisticas/ This weekeend they visit Huachipato (2 wins, 1 draw this year--one of the better small teams); and Chase is pencilled in to start (it would be his 1st start in this year's Apertura tournament). Re: DJ Countess? Hi, all! Apparently Countess will be signing for a Primera B team (2nd div.)--Provincial Osorno (instead of for Dep. Antofagasta, as I had initially reported). Here's the article that talks about him signing for Osorno. http://www.primerab.cl/sitio/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=797&Itemid=0 (Mods: would it be possible to merge this thread with the one about Chase Hilgenbrinck? That way I can more easily keep track of the Yanks in Chile. ) Metro
Re: DJ Countess? Division II in Chile? I mean... he never really lived up to expectations in MLS, but, I didn't expect this.
Where's DJ? "DJ Countess, who had been in negotiations with Antofagasta, was expected to arrived this week. That news was canceled by Pumas president Osciel Guzman Zuleta, now that Puerto Montt's directors have gone ahead and signed the gringo keeper." I saw one other article that confirmed this; MetroChile's article just says he could sign with Osorno), that's a first division team that appears to be a bit stronger than Antofagasta.
Where's DJ? Here's the other link to the "Countess to Puerto Montt" story ... nothing close to official, though. http://www.mercurioantofagasta.cl/p.../site/artic/20070214/pags/20070214021519.html And here are pictures of him in Osorno earlier this week (reportedly ) ... in the lower one, the guy carrying his bags is apparently the team's rich new owner.
Re: DJ Countess? Matter of fact, my hometown is pretty near Valparaiso ... Indiana. The Spanish is just something I enjoy, although I do have inlaws a few places.
Re: DJ Countess? Haha, good stuff. Don't hesitate to pay us a visit at the Chile forum, my friend: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=1156 Metro
Re: DJ Countess? Wasn't there some old story about women in Argentina swooning over Countess back in the U-20 days?
Re: DJ Countess? We should all be so lucky. Good for him though. Back in the dark days of the Burn - 2003 era - Countess played okay but was reputed to be somewhat of a prima donna in the locker room. But he has been humbled since then I imagine.
Re: DJ Countess? Please keep exporting the sandwiches with the round bread and the green beans and oh man why's the one place in town that sells those gotta be all the way downtown and strictly weekday lunch hours
Re: Chase Hilgenbrinck! (Nublense, Chile) He actually started the first game, but for some reason didn't play the last two.
