Its an A for now but once Yoss starts dropping some constitutional law bombs in here, the quality of conversation is sure to drop! ;)

Good job lads. Only complaint is the maddening number of stickies!

I'm giving the mods a B. They are generally excellent, but there was that time a few months ago where a match thread was stickied for weeks. Since then the mods seem to have become more attentive, and with Yoss added, i don't see any problems in the future.

I see a lot of complaints about the number of stickies, but I'd like to ask which ones you would get rid of. This morning there is one about transfers (IMO this keeps thousands of threads about every player we might be linked with from popping up), a match thread (I think everyone kind of agrees that the thread for the next match is OK), the TV thread (I like it as an instant reference, but that could be just me), the moderator poll (unusual circumstance) and the ticket thread (this one is unusual because I don't think many of the other mods will also go so far out of their way to help you get tickets).

So which ones should we get rid of?

Personally, I think it would be improved if the stickies were only on the first page of the thread, rather than re-occuring on every page. But other than that, I can see a lot of usefulness for the threads that are stickied.

we got mods? Ewwwwwww. Isn't there a treatment for that? Vast amounts of Havana Club and Barry or something:D

Seriously folks they're great. The way they look after the schoolyard is amazing, any better and they could be grade school teachers:)

As you ask (and I've also been asked elsewhere since I brought it up), particluarly:

    1. The American TV thread. Buy a ********in TV Guide! Failing that, the very fact that you're on this board means you can visit the gazillion sites that have TV schedules on them or failing that, the sites of the TV stations themselves.

    2. The Transfer thread. The transfer window doesn't open for months, if anyone's interested it will stay high on the first page anyway.

    3. The threads about tickets and going to London. Now I can see why these are useful and I'm sure everyone is extremely grateful for Rick's endeavours in securing hard to come by match tickets. Indeed, I've benefited myself when people I know from abraod have asked me if I can get any for them and without Rick they'd have been disappointed. In a similar vein, the tips on trips to London to watch Arsenal are obviously invaluable to anyone coming in from out of town. Could I suggest (and it's just a suggestion mind) that we have another sub-forum devoted to this kind of "Arsenal, but not exactly team or match related" stuff and keep the main board focussed on the team. I just find that the board gets cluttered with a lot of these threads.

I have no problem with the number of stickies but to make it better I think we should move the "Going to see Arsenal" and "Arsenal on TV" threads as stickies on the Off Topic Forum.

Part of the allure of this forum is the free and frank discussion, and rampant piss taking that goes on.

Someone goes to far and threads get deleted, but I don't think any of our mods have deleted a thread simply because they disagree with the opinions stated within. Something which cannot be said for many other forums

Ultimatly, without the free flow of idea's creativity ultimatly suffers. I could make a political point here....but I can't be arsed :)

    Good work lads.

Does the amount of stickies matter that much? I think the mods do a great job. In response to Michaec, the threads about tickets and going to London to watch games I feel is one of the most important on this thread. The work that Rick does is amazing and I think all of that should be ont he first page.

You guys do a great job. The few times I have posted in here I've felt welcomed and all the posters were very helpful. That says a lot about how the Mods set the tone of the boards. Also, that ticket request thread is always good for a laugh. :D

The one problem in this, and I'm sure most would agree is that most people would still post on the main forum asking the same stupid questions instead of looking around. At least now most people see the ticket thread and post in there, even if they haven't read the first post, and I can't remember the last time we've had someone ask, "Where should I go/stay/eat/etc" in a thread they just started. That's just my opinion.

Now, as for the mods, it seems as though they're finally getting back on the job, as there was a time when you would only find Matt or Rick (I know Cannon had issues as did Coach), so its nice to see Cannon on a bit more. Not that their not being around led to problems, but there were a few times where mods would've been helpful. I think the tone set and the fact they let posters be adults and try to work things out until there definitely needs intervention is excellent. Now if only Cannon would make it back to his hometown for a cheesesteak and I could find money to get back to London or go to Zim, life with the mods would be perfect.

    Oh, and long live Teddy...

    Bear, that is! :D

The Mods are doing a fine job....About the stickies:
--The "Going to see the Arsenal" Sticky should be just where it is
--I think the stickies should appear on the first page only

    My 2 cents....Bravo!

the mods here are generally excellent.

that said, i do recall rick once closing down a thread and citing no other reason that there were too many photos of gary mabbutt.

i mean, what's up with that?! who doesn't love gary mabbutt? everybody's here. everyone's just having a good time. we're all enjoying mabbs. and here comes rick, like a cloudburst from nowhere on a sunny day, and BOOM! closed!

    seriously. what the?
