Well then I take it you didn't watch or hear about the US WC06 game against Italy.... I was embarrassed at the behavior, it was pretty bad. However, it wasn't aimed at the players, just in general discontent with the referee.

  3. So because he's a sore loser because the one area in which his country is our superior (or was, in his mind) is now clearly inferior, no longer even able to score a goal here in 8 matches, we have to cut him some slack? You sound a bit like a self-hating American, and since you describe "employer" as a negative, and practically as a synonym for "oppressive country" and "robber baron" I doubt you're much of a capitalist. I don't think you would give any slack to a US player who engaged in such conduct; you'd probably be on and on about how ashamed you are to be an American.

And its not an all-out street fight. Its a soccer match. Or would it be okay for a Mexican player to knife one of ours during the pregame handshakes? It's a brawl, and they're oppressed, so anything goes, right?

    :D

I'm honestly not sure how to respond to this....

Should I explain that Donovan was waiving EJ forward for a passing/decoy option...

or should I make a tasteless comment about Salcido's vagina getting fingered...

    LOL

Pointing out the potential motivation for his absurd behavior...I had not seen the odd way in which that play began mentioned once in any of the threads on this topic. Understanding a persons motivation is not the same thing as excusing it.

    Oswaldo Sanchez & madre

    http://www.notam02.no/~hcholm/altlang/ht/Spanish.1.html#so46
'Chinga tu madre' 'phuk your mother'
'chingar' 'to phuk' Mexican Spanish. Can be used on its own or in a sentence as 'chinga tu poota madre'. Literally it means 'phuk your mother of a whore' and is used in the same sense as 'phuk you'.
He did not choose the high road.
You can only say that you saw Landi's hand down Salcido's pants. You can not honestly say that Landi fingered her. :D

I watched the game, but didn't see any American fans throwing things onto the field. Could you point out an instance like that? I didn't see it on the tape. I wasn't at the game however, but I'm pretty sure that if there were bottles flying at the referee (as there were at Convey) someone would have noted it...

I was there & it did happen, unfortunately. The US supporters were upset over several calls. At a couple of points, a large number of plastic cups were thrown onto the sideline/endline & a few may have made it onto the field. Considering the 1 euro deposit on each cup, the stewards were quick to pick them all up, at a tidy profit.

Euro? Stewards? At the USA-Mexico match?????????? Big Jake, Phoenix, Arizona, isn't exactly Euro and Steward country. Are you sure you weren't in Soho watching a screening of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth is We're All Doomed, I tell ya, Doomed" flick?

Oswaldo Sanchez gave an exclusive interview to ESPN Radio Formula explaining why he did what he did. I wish someone could translate it here for everyone to read.

    http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=527776&s=mundial&type=story

Basicly he says............... "I'm sorry to anyone who was offended, but the truth is that it angers me that they make fun of me because I feel that they're making fun of my country, and that angers me. I'm from a neighborhood in Guadalajara and eventhough you may try to keep your cool you can't stand the ridicule, It's who I am, and if that upsets people then I'm sorry, but I hate to lose to them and on top of that have them make fun, especially when it's a friendly"

"the truth is it makes me sad and very angry to lose to these people from the USA that make fun and do things that don't go...."

There's some more but, it just sounds like a bunch of excuses for why he acted like a complete goon. It's like the guy is a 12 yr old. They made me angry so like a child I tried to injure a guy....what a class act

Only thing I can think of is maybe he's saying by beating them over and over again and not letting them score outside Azteca is making fun of them and their country..;)

Stop making these dumb & stupid excuses please. He gave a wave of his hand to Eddie Johnson to join in on the run. Just in case Donovan didn't have a good shot, he could pass it to EJ so he could put it away.

LD didn't have that problem, so Sanchez wanted to get back at EJ for no reason. Wonderful job by a typical Mexican fan who can't handle losing to the US in an even enviroment outside of Azteca.

If the play started with EJ hitting a Mexican player then its relevant. Since that's not what happened, its not relevant.
I don't see why his possible motivation should be mentioned.
