Jules, any idea what exit would most ppl take from SLC to get to the stadium site?

    S 500 E exit
    or
    S Pleasant Grove Blvd Exit
    or
    W 1600 N exit

Exit 273 (Lindon/Orem 1600 N) is the northernmost Vineyard property. Take it west and the Geneva property is about a half mile away. The next exit (272?) (800 North Orem) is about the middle of the property, and Orem Center St (Exit 271?) is near the southern tip of the property, by the practice fields that the team used some of last season. For reference, the Geneva property stretches from about 400 South Orem to 2000 North Orem (while it is not actually in the city limits).

And also take into account that the commuter train will run right through there as well when it is completed.

I was also wishing the same thing! DANG!

Maybe it's like what Checkett's has already said: "Maybe it just wasn't meant to be."

Keep in mind, also, that if Checkett's no longer owns the team and sells to another entity here in Utah, that the deals with Madrid probably also go away. Checkett's worked very hard to make this team into something special - despite anyone's critisms as to his handling of the other aspects.

Either option is "sixes" for me.

It will take me about the same travel time from where I'm at. The fairpark would still be in SL, and would likely have more chance of success from a soccer success standpoint, but would have none of the other develpment. It would also allow Checkett's to remain at the helm, but would also continue to provide the stinkin' County with the perks of the stadium without having to have taken any of the risks.

The Geneva option has "soccer city" written all over it, and would "stick it" to SL County, but it may be more difficult for the team to survive and later thrive. And Checkett's may not own which will probably do away with the other perks that Madrid brought.

Is South Davis County (North Salt Lake) still out of the picture? Although, SL County would still get most if not all of the tourism revenue. How about Park City? Or maybe we could take out that golf course on the way up Parley's to make way for a soccer city. Does that still reside in SL County? That way visiting teams and players could stay in Park City instead and drive "down" to the stadium. And altitude would become more of a factor. I'm sure there's no way that would ever happen, but I can dream.

Man, at this point, I'm surprised no one outside of BigSoccer has floated the Temple grounds.

Heck, just build on top of the Salt Palace with some FieldTurf.

That just seems very out of place to me. I kind of doubt it will go through. But who knows. Stranger things have happened - such as Corroon passing on the sweetest deal ever served up by a pro sports franchise.

Unfortunately the press and SL Tribune in general made sure it was presented as a very poor/negative deal.

I get the feeling that if CD had done some PR work and educated the populace more they would have been in business. It was completely one sided out in public and that is what the public believes now.

Interesting. An excellent deal passed on which the majority of people never knew was a great deal and thought it was a poor one, and no one in that one horse town will ever be able to even show them how ignorant they are as the papers won't even present the proper facts.

I guess this is what is called "ignorance is bliss."

    Very interesting.

Do we really need another basketball arena? I'd say a soccer stadium would be a great fit there. Not better than Sandy or Downtown, but better than another basketball arena!

so basically he wants something that will look cool.

On his website however, www.gcodeventures.com, there is a link to the NBA developmental league.

There is a link to "contact us" http://gcodeventures.com/contact.php, and the deseret news says
anyone care to leave a suggestion or 100?

More interesting quotes from Des News
    and
Honestly this sounds like our best bet right now...

How do you figure? Nothing in these articles makes me think this guy is remotely interested in soccer, supporting a team, buying a team, etc. There's no mention of RSL or soccer on their website or in the Deseret News. By all means, contact them and see if they're interested, but this being our best bet? Not a chance.

So maybe Anderson wants to buy the team and sell it out of town to help LHM...

    Just a random thought!

Ask Golden Eagle fans how reliable LHM's word is?

Brandt Anderson is LHM's friend, not Anderson Development LLC aka Geneva Steel.

Just wanted to clear that up. ;)
