FC Dallas have entered talks with Edgar Davids. Thanks to the ever-excellent 3rddegree.net for that one.

Also, because 1) I'm too lazy to come up with one myself, and 2) I followed the college game not-at-all this past year, here's Buzz's Mock Draft:

    Behold the glory.

I've liked Edu's skillset since I first saw him play four years ago. Comparisons to Rico Clark are warranted in that regard, and like Clark he's also a tremendous athlete. I do wonder if he's tenacious enough to play as a lone d-mid at the MLS level, and it's a fact that he drifts in and out of games far too much for TFC to be comfortable starting him at that spot from day 1.

On talent, Seitz should probably go #1 overall. He's the best US GK prospect at least since Howard, maybe even since Friedel. RSL could be a good fit for him, but I suspect he'll go higher than #4.

Dalby unsurprisingly gets a lot of stick around here because his game is, at best, inelegant. But it is effective, and he's the kind of d-mid who wins you championships. And I want to stress that, except for the Argentina game, his passing was nowhere near as bad in the U-20s as it was made out to be. He'll be a nice, Simo Valakari-ish player in MLS.

As for the rest... who really knows? If Chivas is still getting input from Bradley expect them to unearth at least one gem. Mo Johnston had a superb draft last year for Red Bull, and Arena and Nicol also have great track records in terms of spotting talent. They'll have to dig deep this year.

Too bad that the mock drafter forgot that RSL picked up Rimando and traded the rights to Nolly to DC.

Pearle Vision or Standard Optical could subsidize Davids' contract.

I always enjoyed that Davids looked like the Hamburglar when he played for Juve. Stop me if I've told you that one.

I enjoyed his glasses so much that I tried to get an equivalent pair for myself. I succeeded, and ended up becoming a Hall of Fame caliber superstar. ("Some of this is true. Some of this is better." - Too Much Joy)

I could see the Hoops with the letters, "TSO" splashed across their shirts.

for those of you not in the know, TSO stands for Texas State Optical.

my ticket rep told me yesterday shortly after I agreed to a Lamar Hunt Foundation friendly b.w FCD & the Crew. Of interest, there's a hunt classic game feat all ex hunt players; including fmr Dallas Tornado greats.
