Gooch has been linked to teams like Chealsea and he turned down Fullham deal and a Man United Deal i think. He will be leaving.

I can live with Rivaldo on a 2 year contract.....we can play him up top as a forward and give ZERO defensive responsibilities.
dont forget the vast experience he'll bring to the young players on the team....just imagine the things he can teach Jozey

Im all for it soccer wise..and for publicity he'll be an excellent stop gap until harrison gets built. He'll leave RB with a nice buzz in the local soccer community just in time for harrison

We are going to have to live with this until the league is no longer a work in progress, has figured out how to make EVERY league game meaningful, that each club has a shot at serious international competition, that money is flowing like a river... end rant.

McBride never had pace, Dempsey has average speed for a professional soccer player. Gooch has never played in MLS. The reason that the pace is different is because MLS is a summer league. If the EPL played the bulk of it's matches when it's between 80-100 degrees you can be sure the pace would be a good deal slower.

Rivaldo to MLS would be quite interesting though.

    big up to Brooklyn
I'm one of the people who thought Rivaldo would be a great, and inevitable, addition to MLSin the passed, noteably the RedBulls. :). Friggin' sweet.
Again, this age factor is brought up. The first three DP's in MLS go to over 30's. In shape guys, no knock on any of them.
But if we can get a one year contract with an optional second?
Then go for it, but not too crazy expensive on him.
I like it, he brings drama to the league as well.

A Rivaldo reality show might even be more amusing.........

    ;)

When I said pace i meant skill, not how fast the game goes along or anything like that.

It can happen. Rivaldo has been considering retiring after this season. But who knows, maybe the Red Bulls can swoop down and snatch him out of retirement by offering a lot money. It's all speculation. Personally, I think this would be great. Altidore and Rivaldo up front is prefect and would definitely develop Altidore into one of the best strikers in the MLS.

A shame. I suppose if he comes to the US it will be to another team. I actually mentioned him as someone RB should have gone after durring the summer when the reports were that Ronaldo turned down RB's initial bid for him back then. I haven't been able to see him play, but by all accounts I've read it seems he's still been an exellent player. And I think he'd be a great fit for the team too. But then I suppose Areana is really looking for that big target forward (just guessing there). Would have loved to see Rivaldo mix it up with VDB and Schopp. He would have been fun to watch (unless MLS defences just hack the hell out of him).

I'm not one of those people clamoring for RB to sign that Big Name for the sake of getting a Big Name on the team, but Rivaldo I think would have been a good get because even though he's got the Big Name, he's been very quietly playing very well for a club that's not getting too much exposure. He's not on holiday.

For the record, I didn't quote ESPN Deportes. The threads got merged, and the moderator took the other guy's headline.

I posted something from the Houston Chronicle's Spanish section.

See the first 2 posts of this thread.

    Hold on one second here.

The rumor was "Rivaldo to MLS". Everyone else took the NY portion and ran with it.

There is still the possibility that Rivaldo signs with another MLS team with a DP slot

    Okay everyone, neutral corners.

The deal has been officially "kilt dead", so, thread closed.
