No big surprise in my opinion.

    Chivas USA to tab Preki

"Preki, current assistant coach with Club Deportivo Chivas USA, is expected to be named head coach of the third-year Major League Soccer franchise today at Home Depot Center. "

    Not über-convinced?
    Join the club!
I heard the press conference and Preki is a dry (dull?) speaker, that kept repeating the same usual promises, "build a winning team", "do better than last year", "built on the team that was formed last year", etc, etc.
He acknowledge that does not not much about Mexican soccer and did not give specifics about how his coaching staff will be.
Cue kept ducking the questions about why it took so long to name a coach, since Preki was already the assisting coach (asked by Rafael Villagrana from La Opinión) and if Chivas USA was going to bring a marquee player.
So the Galaxy gets Beckham and Chivas USA gets...Edwin Borboa?
Well see how this -yet another- new era goes, but let's face it season three, could be the sink or swim for the team in terms of being a long-term proposition on the field and off the field.
Will the team be attractive for the fans if it only fields young players?
Will Chivas be a competitive team to be reckon by the rest of the team or an eternal bride's maid?
Will the franchise continue to attract the attention of the sponsors in the Beckham era?
Will Chivas matter after Chivas Mexico has become champion will play the Concacaf Champions Tournament, the MLS gets more marquee players and the SuperLiga goes on its first season (without Chivas USA), Will fans still flock to the games or will they wait for the Galaxy or the Chivas Mexico games?
    We will see.

Martin Vasquez and Zak Abdel are staying put. He may add another asst coach of his choosing of course.

you interview all interesting parties and I hear there were alot both from here and Mexico. Once you make a decision, out of respect, you talk to the other adn let them know of your decision. My guiess its took some time to complete that task. Once they decided the Beckham news broke so you wait a few days to get maximum exposure for Preki.
