Time off from what? Sitting on their bench, or not getting called up for England games? He should be ready to play for the gals as soon as his RM contract is over.

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but am I the only one that realizes the Galaxy jersey sponsorship deal could be astronomically high now that Becks is in town? This could be what they were waiting for with their jersey deal. The question is, how much of that sponsor money will go to Posh?

    Oh, my god!!

The league is paying FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND dollars for a player that at age THIRTY ONE is obviously long past his prime???

The league's going in the toilet, better fold up shop now boys.

Nah, he'll miss this year because he's coming late and he'll miss next year when he get a call up to "add much needed leadership" to the England squad for Euro.

Mark my words, we will not see him this year unless for the playoffs (it can happen). AEG has way too much invested in him and he will be playing at stadiums controlled by SUM owners when he finally hits the pitch late next summer.

True, but he'll probably want a family vacation. Posh will demand it. He has been practicing with the team and playing here and there.

I heard there were two little old ladies at the press conference when this was announced. A reporter asked them why they were there and how long they been soccer fans. One replied "Oh we're not soccer fans. My neighbor said that MLS fans were about to get screwed so we decided to come over"

I'm not seeing RM holding him to the end of his contract.

Could he be playing for the Gals much sooner than anticipated?

you know, i'm English and all, full blood, passport to prove it, but this was just so funny. I like watching becks play, but when he is not in the uniform of one of my teams, it's fair game to make fun. i'd be much more amused if this actually happened than by watching him play:D

you'd wonder if the league would throw fines around tho for "insulting a player" or something... some people can't take jokes.

He's had to play against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, let alone against L-pool and all of those other teams. Those places are known for their rowdy crowds. It might sound like something tough to say, but it can also sound rather juvenile.

We're not gonna get in trouble for the "Deport Beckham" banner I plan on making are we?

Why do I feel like this is just George Best playing for the LA Aztecs, Part II?

Well, at least we can sing that old Everton chestnut....

Posh Spice is a slag, Posh Spice is a whore
And when she's shagging Beckham, she dreams of Joe-Max Moore!

In think it is great..he is only 31 and can do more here in the states then in Europe. Also here is another question. To go to the Champions cup youi have to win the MLS Cup and or the Supporters Shield...does this mean the Open Cup is worthless and not the same as the FA Cup?

Pretty much. The USOC has been around for a very long time, but it used to be an amateur tournament. Hopefully, they start propping it up more. MLS is seperate from the USSF which runs the USOC. MLS decides who goes to the CCC.

They were talking about sending the USOC winner to that new MLS-Mexican league tournament when participation becomes performance-based.

Now I'm really hoping the Dietmar Hamman rumours (spelled that with a "u" just for Becks) are true so he can break his ankles. I wonder what Beckham would do if he had to go against Khano, Shalrie, Joey and John in the duration of one game....to bad we won't get to find out:(

EDIT: We need to incorporate Primadonovan and Beckham's metrosexuality* into some chant

*can also be subbed for homosexuality
