Livescore has Martins failing to convert a penalty in the 45'. Anyone know if Timmy saved it? Or did Martins just miss it?

Matchtracker said that it was missed high and had Timmy taking a goal kick after the miss.

The old intimidation factor ... I'm sure he would have saved it had it been on target.

Do we have a final score?

Match report seems to indicate Timmy made some fantastic athletic saves in this one.

Sounds like a great day for the Yanks in the Prem by all accounts.

7:00 nice long range strike from Parker directly to Howard. It dips on him a little & he drops it down to the ground before picking it up - no danger.

8:00 The Anichebe goal is off a cross from Neville, that bounces around the box before the scorer gets his boot on it.

Too bad I'm not a betting man. I'd be tempted to give you Newcastle plus two. Any takers?

By all accounts today was a great day for posters in the Yanks Abroad forum. Congratulations, everyone!

33:00 nice diving save to the right from Tim on a low directed header from Martins.

Howard hasn't had much to do in the 1st half. Most attacks from Newcastle have been pretty tentative, or snuffed out by the defense, Valente in particular making a couple saving plays.

just saw the pk attempt.....to say that is generous. howard dove the wrong way but the ball went over and went about 30 rows deep. wet surface possibly.

43rd minute or so - Osman fouls Dyer in the box, penalty kick awarded to Newcastle. Then the teams start milling around & shoving a little. It's all apparently because Emre of Newcastle asked the ref to give a red to Osman for DOGSO, and the Everton players didn't like that he asked. Geez.

After things settle down, the horrendous PK miss by Martins. Howard dove the wrong way. Big turning point in this game.

Has anyone measured Everton's goalposts recently? Are we sure the crossbar is regulation height? I'm not saying that was a factor, but ...

    Missed it by that much!

haha, i don't think a 12 foot high goal would have put that pk in....it was bad.. a la...beckham euro 2004.

horward another great save in the 52nd mintue or so. Athletic and back up in case of rebound. he has never had a problem with those types of saves, the routine has always been the knack on timmy.

what a future for u.s. keepers though. 3 keepers in the epl, although friedel is done, keller, cannon, brown, etc.

Watching the 2nd half on my DVR -
    1-0 Everton

54:00 Milner strikes a great ball from the right, Howard dives to the right to get his hand on it. Luckily the rebound doesn't cause trouble. Nice save from Timmy.

57:00 On a corner for Everton, Johnson flicks on from near post, Anichebe heads it to the post, and cleans up his own rebound.
    2-0 Everton

Newcastle has been dominating possession and play, but nothing to show for it.

60:00 Ball played into the box by Butt of Newcastle. Sibiersky one-times a nice pass to Parker, who dribbles past Time and puts it in the net, but Parker was just offsides.

61:40 Neville scores on the 2nd ball of a set piece, his first goal for Everton. Given was caught off his line & tips it up but into the net. Everton 3-0, just as we predicted :D

Every one of Howard's long goal kicks are being won by the other team.

86:00 a couple of easy saves for Tim on long attempts in the last couple minutes.

87:00 Tim nicely snags a corner kick.

Ah, the life of a goalkeeper. Some days you barely touch the ball. But the bounces went Everton's way today, and a 3-0 win is good any way you look at it.
