Considering the outcome, "fault" is a good term from the French perspective. Both teams were fatigued, but there's a chance France might have scored again had he stayed on the pitch those last few minutes. And there's a chance the PSO would have gone differently had the order been different. No way to predict the outcome of that match if Zizou stays in it, but he certainly did not help his team by getting sent off.

Materazzi had honor before this match?

    Well said.

This. Is. Italy. You're. Talking. About.
    Of course he's enjoying it!

Matterazi's fault, saying stuff about Zidane's family, should've done something worse than a headbutt.

I can't believe at the end of 2006, people are still toeing the humble good guy defending his family honour line.

At the end of the day, both players stayed in character. Materazzi was a heel way before the World Cup. Zidane despite his PR Machine has always been something of a loose cannon whenever the spirit takes him. (see WC 98). Zidane descended to Materazzi's level. (lower imo) Make whatever you want of it.

    OR....

It isn't anyone's 'fault' except FIFA's. It was something scripted just so we could have something to remember from this overall poor sporting display called World Cup 2006....
