Well, you can't put it all down to luck. Obviously if you're scoring 4,5 goals/game you are playing better than when you can't score any. Liverpool's inability to finish against Benfica is not "bad luck". It's poor finishing.
Why not?Liverpool have never lost at the Nou Camp. Never even conceeded a goal there actually. It was said Liverpool wouldn't get a draw at Juventus. Hmmmmmmmm. I wish football was like how YOU think it is with everything going to plan. I would place bets every day and become a millionaire. Unfortunately, football ISN'T like that. Real football fans know that in this game, anything is possible. That's why it's the greatest game in the world.
I didn't write anything about 'luck'. I just said it was 'weird' and 'freaky' that for over a month they just couldn't score against anybody (even Charlton) and then suddenly it all clicked and then they couldn't stop scoring. It was .......bizarre.
I just can't wait for the next gameday. I don't know if players purchased during the January transfer period are eligible for Champions League Football?! But if they are, and Liverpool can get their hands on a quality left back (with pace) and a creative midfield player then I think they will have a good chance of defeating Barcelona over two legs.
If Liverpool get an Away goal and keep the score low at the Nou Camp they will have a massive chance at Anfield, these games are Gerrard type games and I can see Liverpool progressing
Players they buy in January can play in the CL as long as they haven't played in the CL this season for another team.
I have just noticed this thread. It seems that most of the contributors got it SO wrong! After the first leg Liverpool have a big advantage over Barca. People tend to underestimate Liverpool despite the evidence demonstrating Rafa's Reds are able to overcome more illustrious opponents in the Champs League. If you actually were knowledgeable about football you would be aware that at this stage all the teams are very good and can beat each other. Well done Liverpool, beating the reigning European Champions on their own patch. Respect is due. The Anfield leg should be a cracker

I think you are right. Rafa will play for the draw and probably get a real scare when Barca get a goal. He will then change his tactics a bit and the game will become more interesting to watch. I hope Barca do get a goal it will make for a hell of a game.
