I've heard of this show, but only having basic cable, haven't seen it. Everyone tells me it's good though. I may have some downloading to do.
I'm borderline obsessed with this show right now. Just so you know though, each season is its own story arc, and each episode is a chapter in that arc; don't watch them out of order!! Best show on television? I can dig it...
I have very limited TV viewing habits, but the best show on the tube? CORONATION STREET!!! You got to love it - most of the time is spent in the Pub... and they often play the Pogues in the background.
Everyone's raving about The Wire! I guess I'm the only Baltimore resident alive who actually hasn't seen one episode of it (although I plan to once I stop being eaten alive by school). Baltimore isn't all murderin' though, guys. We're only the SECOND most dangerous city in the country. Duh. Another Baltimore-related fiction you definitely SHOULD see is the movie "Steppin' Up," about a tough street kid (i.e., he wears wife-beaters and speaks in a vaguely ghetto accent) from Hamden who gets his dance on at a prestigious dance school downtown. "Bring your tights." "Do I look like I own tights?" This is the kind of quality dialogue you have to look forward to.
Lately it's been: Thin Lizzy, Rancid, the Clash, the Pogues, the Specials... I think I'll go put on Johnny Thunders now.
Lately, it's been Quasimoto, Diplo, and Lady Sovereign, plus Explosions in the Sky to lull me into paper-writing.
XTC - any and all lately Gun Club/Jeffrey Lee pierce - any and all lately Junior Boys - So This Is Goodbye I scored 2 nice soul reissues which are hitting the spot: Candi Staton - self-titled collection Willie Hightower - self-titled collection
Lately... Bad Brains Love is All Toots & the Maytals Sufjan Stevens Devendra Banhart The Doors Peter Bjorn And John Sugarcubes
I like how the producers of the video managed to find another use for that SIMON game. (it's the naughty or nice button board)
Ahhh...I want this playlist. I heard this rumor that the Sugarcubes are reuniting, but that's probably wishful thinking, eh?
I thought I heard the same thing... but nothing came out of it lately. My prediction, if it happens... COACHELLA I've been listening to the latest album from Nas. And it's xmas time, so this playlist came back in iTunes: Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses Christmas In Hollis - Run DMC Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys Father Christmas - Kinks Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid (Bono & Adam Clayton) Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms Rockin' Around Chistmas Tree - Brenda Lee Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley Father Christmas - Kinks merry christmas (I don't wanna fight) - Ramones The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole Christmas Is Coming - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas Time Is Here [Instrumental] - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas Time Is Here [Vocal Version] - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Für Elise - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Greensleeves - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Hark! The Herald Angels Sing - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Linus and Lucy - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Skating - The Vince Guaraldi Trio The Christmas Song - The Vince Guaraldi Trio My Little Drum - The Vince Guaraldi Trio O Tannenbaum - The Vince Guaraldi Trio What Child Is This? - The Vince Guaraldi Trio Last Christmas - Wham!
Indeed, and from what I've read, it was fantastic. Now I just hope they had liked it enough to do a few more. I don't know how likely that is though. They're actually all still friends, and get together for lunch like once a week.
No "Santa Clause is coming to town - Jackson 5"? Don't sleep on the Jackson 5. Other than that though, your Christmas playlist is eerily similar to mine. I do also have Sufjan Steven's Christmas box thing, and a Bright Eyes Christmas album that was given to me by a friend. I dropped the album into my Christmas playlist, even though I kind of hate them. After all, it's Christmas!
The above, well, it could be applied to this board. How come the Chipmunks are missing from the list, as is Fairytale of New York? This is another, perhaps not well known one that you might want to give a listen to. *Christmas Lullaby* It seems like a freeze out It seems like a freize Stumbling I fell down And prayed on my knees The ice wagon's coming To pick up the stiffs Had a chat with an old one He was gone in a jiff And Santa and his reindeer Jumped over the moon So hush little child Santa's coming here soon Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby I hope you grow up angry Just like your dear old dad I hope you grow up brave and strong Not like me - all weak and sad You said "Daddy, daddy, You're stinking of booze" I kissed him and said, "Kid, I was born to lose. But you have a future And a big one to say And I hope you'll remember All the love that I gave." Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Heres to all the little kids Who haven't got no clothes Heres to all the little kids Who haven't got no homes It's Christmas time in Palastine It's Christmas in Beirut They're scrapping 'round for rice Not for tutti fruits And the Christmas lights, they blew up Now the 'lecky's all gone dead I look like a coal miner And I've a pain inside my head Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby Tura lura luray Tura lura lie Tura lura luray It's a Christmas lullaby NOTE: The chorus for the song is derived from "Tura Lura Lural” an Irish Lullaby written by James Royce Shannon.
