My apologies for last night guys. I just don't have a lot of tolerance for what I perceive to be whining when a team gets beaten.

Ask the people over at the BVB boards or TOLH, I'm the same way, if not worse, with with my own team.

I just wanted to talk about Werder's strong effort and all I saw was people complaining about the second goal.

Guys, I think and hope your club wins the Bundesliga and the UEFA Cup.

I really think Werder will win both. That's not to smooth over feelings, that's my true opinion.

Well the UEFA Cup is full of minefields for big teams still. It is a bad competition, but not because of the teams in it IMHO but because of UEFA meddling. Its not inconceivable for Werder to win the Cup, but I feel that in the UEFA Cup there are no favorites.

Iono if its my headache or just the 3:25 AM in me who is talking but I thought Werder lacked speed. Almeida was just rubbish today, Klose tried his best, but it was so obvious taht the entire defense and the kitchen sink was dedicated to stopping him and Diego. I just felt the trio of Hunt, Almeida and Klasnic just were not good enough to play alongside with Klose who looked visibally frustrated. Granted he did not have his best games, but he tried really hard and tried to do veritable slalom runs through the entire Barca defense; if your striker is doing that, then obviously he does not have trust in the ability of his other strike partner, and I think that showed painfully.

What "UEFA Meddling?" It is THEIR tournament......

I thought Barca were better period. I was disappointed that Barca just chose to hold that 2-0 lead, but that also tells me they respected Werder's main threats of Diego and Klose.

Of course Barca concentrated on shutting down Diego and Klose. That's basic strategy. You try to shut down your opponent's main threat or threats and challenge the others to beat you.

I wondered myself why Almeida started instead of Hunt. Was that because of form?

Even though I'm anything but a Werder fan, my deepest respect for their performance in that group. I know that doesn't help much (maybe makes it even worse), but they would have gone through any other group easily! But that's what should give 'em confidence especially for next year's CL.

Totally agree. After the draw was first made, I expected Werder to finish a comfortable third, not challenge to go through.

They already had my respect going in, but they turned my respect into admiration with their performance in that group.

In any other group, I think they would have gone through.....

Don't worry, my animosity towards Bremen is temporarily universal ;-)

In general: Strong fight still by Werder, this can still be one heck of a season.

So they don't have the right to post now? What are you getting at? What are you saying?

At that time, I HAD to. Werder is my ex-wife's club and I accompanied her to matches even after we got divorced.

One of the best nights I had in Dortmund was that final day of of the 2001/2002 season when we won the title on the final day, beating you guys 2-1 at the Westfalenstadion, but that wasn't why we had fun.

Werder also made the UEFA Cup and a bunch of us partied with a bunch of Werder fans into the wee hours of the morning.

I understand your dissapointment, but is lashing out about who cared about Werder when really necessary??

I think it will be for them. It's just not their time in the CL yet. That will come. I do see the "stuff of champions" in Werder Bremen.

Sure they have a right to post but they (and nobody) should demand winning the UEFA Cup nor proclaim Werder are the big faviorites to win it. They don't understand how things work in Bremen. Being humble and proud at the same time is a big part of the clubs identity.

Personally I don't even care that much if Werder now gets kicked out in next round of that competition. It's just a Cup of losers the way it's played right now.

On the international level whatever they do from this point on this season won't get bigger than what they did in that Champions League group.

OK. I understand. Thanks for explaining that.

But I would like to say that I posted that Werder would win the UEFA Cup because I truly believe they will.

'You only play as good as your opponent alloes it.'

never were truer words spoken. Didn't expect Werder to go through, but I was still disappointed about the way they lost. On the other hand, Barca IS just a class above Werder and 12 hours later I can accept that. ;)

In the end a great effort from Werder in this group, good luck to them in the UEFA cup and with Barca and Chelsea the two best teams advanced.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say I thought Werder put up one hell of a fight last night. I wasn't sure Barca was gonna take it till about the 91st minute, so that says something.

Good luck in the Uefa Cup, tricky competition indeed but if all goes well I can see Bremen take it. They certainly deserve it

Did anyone else think Wome was absolutely worthless in that game?

It's too bad Klose and Diego aren't getting much help up front. It's clear that teams are starting to be more physical to take them out of their game. Hopefully Zidan will be fit soon and get his chance. He's got a nose for the goal!

The way Hunt, Klasnic and Almeida have been playing lately, maybe Zidan will see a shot.......

    Hunt wasn´t bad yesterday.
The only thing is, that he made to many matches.
He needs some time to recharge his batteries,
it´s good, that Schaaf brings him or some minutes,
because he can give the matches impulses.

    To Zidan:
If Zidan is really fit, last weeks he was injured,
he can be very important for the team.

Have you ever watched a Werder match? Pretty much everything in your post is just plain wrong. this kind of bull can only come from a frustrated H?V fan.

man, it is pity you did not win against these arrogant Barcelona yesterday.

Also DSF showed Bayern game, not Werder Bremen.

anyway Werder is fantastic team and you can be proud of your team!

    Good luck!!!!

    You will make it!

just that an opinion aaint facts.
Diego has more skills than any other player in europe, if he was a complete player he wont be playing for Bremen
and about Wome, Tripod has Testified above

I was just pointing out that Wome played like crap yesterday. I was soooo happy when they pulled him.

I would disagree that Diego is not a complete player, otherwise he wouldn't be playing for Bremen. I can't imagine (other than $) why great players would like to go to a team like Real Madrid or Chelsea to sit the bench! At Bremen he gets to go out every match and show what he's capable of.

Now why is that????? Why do some underestimate German teams and the BL so much???
Do you say if a player is "complete" then he should only play in Spain, Italy or in the ping-pong league....
Diego is a complete player and he does play for Bremen because he has not only good legs but brain too...

do you even know that the only reason Diego isnt playing in a "higher" league is because of how poor he played at porto. He was utter crap there, he wanted a change of scenery and he made the right choice with the Bundesliga. He was getting real recognition in Brazil, then he stunk at Porto, now he is back to recognition. Dont worry he's only 21, he will make it to a big buck club in the future. But until then, hes all werder
