How long do you think it will be before a European club comes calling for The Panther?

he is only considered the most talented player in Ecuador, until he was seriously injured and was forced to miss the world cup. once he recovers, you will know him.

he is still recovering from an injury, but he is a registered LDU Quito player, one of the best teams in all of South America. He is rumored to have a transfer to the belgium league in January.

    rossgreen,

ecua hit the nail on the head, but just to elaborate:

salas is pretty small in size (around 5'6 or so) but extremely speedy and technical with the ball. he can get flashy at times and he knows how to work a crowd. he was set to make a move to italy two years ago but injury and a run-in with the law squashed that.

el mago, along with el diabolito lara were supposed to usher in this "new" style of ecuadorian striker. unlike delgado, carlos tenorio and eduardo hurtado from back in the day, salas and lara didn't rely on brute strength but rather on well-timed passing highly-skilled dribbling.

like eff said, when he gets over this injury everyone will know him.

Wow that's some good news. I almost want El Nacional to beat Barcelona this weekend! Let's hope it's our boys that do the impressing and not the foreigners.

It's too bad Ecuador wasn't on everyone's radar four or five years ago. There were a whole lot of ecuas that never got the chance to earn big bucks abroad.

    Re: Christian Benitez thread

I wouldn't call Santos Mexico's best team, but you're right, Benitez has been playing great, 3 goals in 5 Matches, the mexican press have been saying great things about him. That last goal he scored was a beauty, plus he was a menace for Chivas' defense the entire match. Awesome for him, great for Ecuadorian footy.
