Another player with a bright future, scored against Brasil, one of the top scores in last years Copa America... Felix Borja.

He scored tonight in the Greek league for Olympiakos, his third goal so far this season. Not bad, and he is seeing more time on the pitch! :D

What team will get F. Borja? How good is he? I hear rumors that Emelec and D. Quito are trying to get him.

In FSV Mainz 05, Borja, seemed to be doing well. He was scoring goals. He looked in great shape. What happened to him? Why is he deciding to play in Ecuador? Is there some kind of physical problem with him?

Borja wants to come back to Ecuador b/c he gets no playing time in Mainz since his injury which had him out of the field for a year and some.

he's making a smart decision trying to come back to Ecuador. it sucks, i thought he had a brighter future in Mainz the way he started off well. I always liked Felix Borja he was a great striker it sucks he never got to unleash his full potential in the NT.

benched. most forgotten and wasted talent that came out of El Nacional from the 04-06 squad. He'll mark his return to Ecuador in the 2011 season if hes smart. Unless he wants to play D3 ball or something.

Borja would also be competing against wonder-kinds Lewis Holtby and Andre Schürrle. Both of these guys are amazing players and candidates for the German NT as they are currently part of the U21 set-up.

His injury and time away from the game really harmed his career. The fact that Mainz stepped up and got some extremely talented players meant that Borja breaking back into the line-up would be nearly impossible.

He is not even listed on their roster.

Re: Ecuatorianos en el exterior, Part IV

Felix Borja is officially a Puebla FC player. Hopefully he can get back in shape. Poor guy, he was one of my favorite upcoming players back when he was in El Nacional. I had lots of hope in him and that he'd be one of our main strikers for the past qualifier. GLAD he made this move, he should have made moves to leave the Bundesliga like a year ago.

I hope he has the luck that our guys are having in the Mexican league, but it will be extremely difficult for him to reach NT status with Benitez and Caicedo doing major work in their respective leagues. And with Jeff Montero, Jaime Ayovi, and Joao Rojas fighting for a spot, it's gonna be extra hard. I just hope Marlon De Jesus gets his chance to shine in this upcoming Qualifier.

yup ever since Mainz moved up to D1. I still remember that good season he had right when he moved to Mainz. The guy had potential to have more success in Europe. I've always said he wasn't given enough time on the NT at all, he was completely ignored IMO. But then again, he was mostly around in the Tin, Kaviedes, C.Tenorio era. So that kind of speaks for itself.

video of a ton of borja goals in Mainz. I just remembered why they called him Canguro after watching this video. If anyone knew about positioning, breaking away quick, and having a lethal aerial game it was this guy.

I was so dearly hoping for Klopp to bring in Borja along with Subotic and Zidan when he left Mainz for Dortmund.

Unfortunately, he spent most of his time with injuries during the last season. Now, Mainz has Holty and Schurrle...no need for Borja anymore and I believe he lost his place.

To bad it had to end that way but I am sure the fans of Mainz all appreciate his services while he was there.

Are you kidding? I remember him being awful and it was a complete shock to everyone when he went to europe. Do you know how he got there? an Olympiacos scout was in a Copa Libertadores game scouting River plate players when Borja scored two magnificient goals. El Nacional was robbed that night. He failed miserably in a mediocre greek league. He did score alot of goals in the Second division of Dland.

For once I agree with AF. El Canguro relies too much on physical attributes and jumping ability. He's way too one-dimensional to succeed at the top levels. Every time he played for the NT he looked lost and confused.

He might do well in Mexico due to the shorter defenders there, but his future on the NT is doubtful because he has a lot of younger, more promising players ahead of him.
