I told someone before the second overtime began that following this team was like following the Red Sox - an exercise in how close can you possibly get to winning without doing so. I reminded him exactly what I said after Heaps' kick was saved. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Whatever idiom you pick, this one hurts more than the other two did. We had a lead in this one. Before Houston scored, I said, "we have eight minutes to go, and we are notorious for giving up quick counter goals." Forgive me for being prescient. I need to go for a walk.
imho we broke a cardinal rule! over here in england we say you are most vunerable right after you have scored.
I'm not trolling. Just wanted to say that you guys played a great game. Penalties are the worst way to go out, and sometimes it just comes down to luck. It shouldn't take anything away from the fact that you guys are constantly in the running for MLS Cups. Like I said, sometimes, it's just the way things go. Thanks for a good game, and hope to see you guys next year.
Well, needless to say, I'm gutted. I feel like I should be pissed at Heaps, but I can't even muster anger. I'm just devastated, because this same group of Revs won't have another shot. Shalrie looked how I feel. I thought we played great, and I think we deserved it, but that's soccer, I guess. Thanks for the memories, those of you who are leaving, and congrats to Houston.
Listen muchachos, as long as ther be 'alf a pint left in yer glass when the guy from mass. passes it to the goalie: youll know then that all is not lost. the revs will one day win the mls cup.... jus no today felas, cheers p
Was this the last real chance for a few years? What with talk of Dempsey and Twellman attracting admirers in Europe. Two consecutive finals affecting draft picks and now the designated player rule, which has people talking of the better players going to LA and NY. This could be a tough winter of team rebuilding.
Wow how fast crap turns. How fast I was screaming about the Twellman goal, and then the next not having any idea what just happened.
Channel 5 cut away to the local news and didn't even allow them to show the celebration.....pathetic. Not like I wanted to see it but if I was a Dynamo fan and they did that!!! I bet if the Revs had won, they'd still do the same thing too, thats what the really sad part is.
snif snob... ieven put on '''my homemade pepe cancela t shirt! snoba snsma, skldf 222 there all gone now !!! shalrie>celtic, pepe>toronto, sob, demps>atletico,, \boohohooo
Guys lets take a deep breath here for one minute. Yes no question this hurts a lot, but it was a terrific game played by both sides and a very physical one. Sure there was a lack of concentration after Twellman's goal and even I felt like the game was over but I guess nothing comes easy for us. It was a great goal by Ching and of course once you get to the penalty shootout, its 50-50. Hopefully Kraft will push for both a soccer-specific stadium and a marquee player in the offseason, at least to keep the media attention on the club.
It was sad watching this game on TV at the end, because it was a bunch of us rooting for the Revs, and one bloke for Dynamo. When Ching scored that last goal, the room went silent except for that one guy, with all of us sharing the look of 'Did that just happen? How the hell did we let that get by?' Gaahh. I also can't understand the Heaps choice, but Stevie will do what Stevie will do. As for the above comment. Garber will have to arm wrestle Kraft into submission to get an SSS out of him soon, even though the league's requiring it. Would be kind of fun to watch though, Garber and Kraft duking it out.
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIIIIIIGHT SIDE OF LIFE now shaugnessy will concoct the curse of the revolution and we will draw 80,000 per game. and we will win the mls cup in EIGHTY SIX YEARS! why did noonan, the only injured rev, take a kick? why did heaps take a kick isntead of larentowicz (who buried his vs rochester and had freshest legs) or smith (fresh legs, cannon) or ralston (veteran, deals with pressure)? houston tied it on a bullshit goal. twellman's was beautifully constructed, houston got a ********ing lucky bounce.
Devastating. You know Heaps asked for it in the huddle because he wants to win so badly and wants control over that destiny, but come on guys, cooler heads have to prevail and put the best kickers out there, and Heaps just isn't one of them. I actually wouldn't have listed Noonan or Heaps on my top 5 -- Noonan hasn't been sharp all year and he's just played 120 minutes after only going 90 a handful of times. His body language said it all. Ralston, Dempsey, Parkhurst all come before those 2... as well as Smith and Larento if you really pressed me. For me this doesn't hurt nearly as much as 2002 did (combination of being the first one, at home, and after such an uninspired performance), but it stings in its own way because the nucleus that has carried this team for 4-5 years is going to be dismantled, so it might end up lingering longer.
pats lost, spurs lose, revs lose. not my day :| this one is just making me angry now that i think about it.
I thought I saw that cross take a (perfect) deflection on its way to Ching. Is that right? Tell her to try to understand!
This stinks, this stings. I've followed this team since the beginning and really felt that this was their year. Pulling so hard for the Rev's to win, wanting it so bad, almost willing them to win. Being oh so close and then having the victory ripped from us. Congrat's to Houston, they played us well.....but, I wanted the silverware in New England. Good season Rev's. I'm proud of my team.
