It seems that Nelson Acosta, DT for Bolivia, has a preference in his goalkeepers. It is Leo Fernandez, who in my opinion, really has not played very well. He is frequently out of position and his distribution is poor. There are at least three keepers who I feel are better than him. However, I am not the coach.

Fernandez (not be confused with "Gato" Fernandez) is a naturalized Bolivian citizen. He was naturalized about five years ago (If i recall correctly). Probably he was naturalized to not count as a foreigner on a Bolivian league team and maybe even to play for the National team.

    He was born in Argentina.

During the game against Colombia, when the Bolivian national anthem was playing.. he was the ONLY one who did not have his heart on his chest. Perhaps this was symbolic. If he does not hold allegiance to Bolivia, can we assume that the country he still holds allegiance to is Argentina?

I find this unacceptable. Even Cristaldo, who was Argentine and naturalized..had his heart on his chest during the anthem and no one has questioned his allegiance.

Now for the tricky part. Bolivia's next game is against Argentina in Buenos Aires. Should Leo sit this one out to avoid any type of misunderstandings? Gato Fernandez who is the no. 2 is currently injured and will probably not get called up.

Will Leo put his heart on his chest when the Argentine anthem plays?

I am very troubled by this. :(

    What do you think?

    welll lets hope not...

i wouldn't worry... there if of course the famous Peruvian goalie who let Argentina, score an amazing 6-0 victory so Argentina could surpass Brazil in the 78' world cup, everyone said Argentina payed the Peruvian goalie off... and of course b/c he was originally born in Argentina...

but i wouldn't worry either, i mean the goalie arguably is the most important member of a team, but with that said, there's 10 other guys out there, fighting thier hearts out.... this is World Cup qualifiers baby!!!!

This is what everyone dreams about.... that and playing for a big club, in your own country or abroad... but playing the Big World Cup, is something every soccer player, and non playing-soccer player has dreamed in thier lifetime.... i know i wish i had more skills, or never stopped playing in junior high......

all i hope for bolivia, is they don't have anymore 5-0 routs like the one they had in Uruguay... let's go D'
