I can't believe the positioning of the keeper..I mean the odds of somebody popping a shot from there are certainly low..but was he signing autographs, taking a dump, hitting on a Mormon mother? ;-)

Brilliant goal, wasn't quite from the halfway line but he knew it was going in as soon as he hit it

[R]equired... way to ruin it. (Not really I don't give a damn, but someone else might.)

that was a nice goal and a great win for RSL, Williams was paying attention and put a nice lob into the net......

Yea, that was a really nice goal. I couldn`t tell if that was from midfield or not, but none the less it was nice.

It wasn't really a lob...it looked like it didn't go over the keeper so much as around him. Great, great shot.

(Posted elsewhere but told to come here)

A goal from that distance is usually celebrated to the rafters, and rightly so, but when you score from that distance you always have to look at the goalkeeper. Just like Xabo Alonso's 75 yard goal against Newcastle last year, if it hadnt been for the keeper, it would have been a wasted shot.

I did wonder at first look if the keeper had been somehow caught out because of the gridiron lines, because I find watching games with girdiron lines to be totally disorienting. (where's the bloody penalty box!?!?). But on second viewing the keeper was just awfully placed.

On a seperate note...I once scored from the halfway line back in 1996. I sh*t you not. Okay, it was Sunday League and we were playing poorly getting stuffed and to be frank the "shot" was actually a defensive clearance, but I got it sweetly and it soared and looped into the top corner of the net.

You will not be surprised to hear howver that I have only scored one goal in proper football since that effort. :(

Thanks for watching OP's back but I don't think a [R] was needed. He didn't give out the result and the thread title already "revealed" it. :)

Bah. I scored as a keeper from my own penalty box about five years ago. A very sweet punt, good tailwind, and a fortuitous bounce over the onrushing keeper (props to my forward for making the run). Man, wish I had video of it.

I scored a goal from about five yards inside the half...out of terror. A night I'll never forget, it was my freshman year of HS, and I was maybe 125lbs soaking wet. My first game in the HS uniform, and I was playing up top against then Senior Brandon Pollard of J.R. Tucker HS. Brandon was of course a legend in the area - US National Team, and later in his career an MLS player. Anyway, I took a pass at about the half line, took one loose touch and had him closing on me at full speed. I was pretty timid anyway, but being Pollard it didn't help. When he was about ten feed away I just blasted the ball, which caught the keeper off guard. He couldn't backtrack fast enough as it cleared just under the post. I think this is the first time I've ever mentioned it having been out of terror - certainly to my new teammates who weren't convinced that I could survive Varsity..I don't think they thought I'd be able to hack it until that moment. Ahh memory lane. I also scored an utterly shit goal against a premier club in VA, Braddock Road in a state tourney. Bounced the keeper from about 50..I think we lost like 12-1 that day. The only embarrassing goal I ever scored ;-)
