I think the only tactic left to employ in our quest to have Andruils thrown out on his ear is to disrupt the All Star Game. Now hold on a second, I'm not advocating littering the field with beer bottles, or having someone streak the field as previously discussed. No, I'm speaking about doing something in a fashion that is perfectly legal and couldn't possibly be scuppered by the powers that be. Rumor has it that El Lamar is going to be there, perhaps this would be an opportunity to have a word with him as we all desire. Protest this game and instead of McCullers coming out to calm us down, it's Lamar. Hmmm, sounds like a brilliant plan to me, could be the swang song of the Andrulis Out! movement. I've no problem discussing this out in the open, as if we are within our normal legal guidelines it can't be stopped. To be fair, the only way I pay to see the All Star friendly is if there's going to be a demonstration.
If play continues they way it's gone, I have a strong feeling you won't need Andrulis Out at the ASG.
To be honest, I was in Fid's camp after having spoken to our GM 2 consecutive weeks during and after matches prior to last week's match. However, as time continues to move on and on my faith in Lamar continues to wane and wane. And let's be fair, to build the franchise back up to a 15k fans per game status, it's going to take much more than the inevitable firing of Andrulis. The more I think about it, I'm not sure how you return the franchise to prominence.
For those not interested in paying to see the ASG, thought I'd pass along this info. Greater Columbus Sports Commission is accepting volunteers for the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. Along with a free ticket to the game, volunteers receive: -All-Star Game hat -t-shirt -lapel pin -game program Volunteers are needed July 26-31 in areas such as airport greeters, hotel lobby greeters, hotel info. center. Contact Gwen Stultz at (614) 221-6670 or GStultz@ColumbusSports.org
I'll be volunteering then, a chance to pick up "the great snake" Luis Boa Morte and subsequently going out on the pull is just far too tempting. It's actually not a bad idea. Get into the game for free, then protest. Not bad at all.
Seeing as you and Jeff have such a fantastic relationship over on Matchnight, I nominate you to ask for said meeting.
They've already set aside a section for us behind the goal, towards the corner... not sure where the ESPNZone is, but too late now. Just look for a bunch of yellow clad gringos amongst a see of red & white Chivas fans.
