I was highly disappointed to see that petty comments made on big soccer affected the turnout in the Casbah at last nights game. The guys need to see that we are a united front giving them our full support and cheering them on, that we are their biggest GROUP of fans!!!!
People are entitled to their own opinions and even if you don't agree, that doesn't make them wrong.
I am proud to be standing up with the Casbah and you should be too!

Nice sentiment, but that's a pretty extreme leap in logic. The in-fighting that's occurring on this board probably reduced the Casbah by about 6 or 7 at the most. I did notice the songs last night dropped an octave though. Although that could have been from the guys desperately trying to match Mr. I could sling my sac over my shoulders anthem Singer. I think that guy made everyone with an XY question their manhood.

Most of the regulars who weren't there rarely, if ever, post here. BigSoccer can influence, but it's not as large as you think. It was also a Wednesday night non-league game on TV with no advertising (and Mr. Bonds trying to reach a milestone on that same night). Not too many people are going to make it. I was surprised to see as many people in the stands as I did.

    (taking a break from work...)

Weeknight games and the fact that US Open Cup games are determined on short notice reduces the crowd even further...

While the regulars have been small in the losing years, there has been a spike in the numbers hanging out in the North Stands.

It's always been about getting the money's worth for only a few dollars, although now and then I like to explore the game from many angles so hanging out on the east and west sides gives at least from my view, a way of exploring the game... in terms of atmosphere I like to be there, though at times if I could get a seat elsewhere I can see some other interesting things going on--the trick here is trying to find someone else who would like to do the same...

I would be thinking at least for the Open Cup, it's a seat jumper's paradise except at the Gold Seats...

I hate all the infighting and bickering that goes on in the first place--it takes away from a lot of things, and while the numbers have increased tenfold, I would have to say for the most part the group, though off-colour at times here or live, is the most civil offline, and with despite some of the beerdrinking that is a culture for many, a lot of us have stayed away from the shenatigans and confrontations that has been the usual in other stadiums... for the most part a lot of the people let each other be since many have been there from day one and from the losing years as well... with the exception of the long haul gang of Bill, Guy, and maybe myself who come here or to QuakeMagic, most of the gang (and that consists of those on the email list from way back) don't post here that much...

Next game, it should get better... Cheers!

Not related to the subject at hand, but attendance was pretty good last night (over 6K for a midweek nonleague game) so there were fewer seats to jump into.

But the thing that didn't make sense was they were checking tickets as we went into the north end. Brad May came over to join us and was challenged for his ticket stub, and when the yellowjacket saw that his ticket said 112 or somewhere over on the west side, they tried to turn him away.

Wow.....who knew???.....Internet arguments reduced the Casbah? That's just weird. I saw SJQF get miffed at BlueMeanie and Lindsey tweaked on Nap but that's the only 2 that I knew of. Would you guys quit irritating the women? ;)

Some yellowjackets are worse than others. I can under stand keeping a $10 ticket out of the expensive seats but come on boys.....I had a dickhead yellowjacket make me dig for my ticket when I had an arm-full of food and drink and I was headed to the cheap seats......must be a bad case of L.D.S.(little dick syndrome). In all fairness most aren't like that and actually are very pleasant.

If anyone's implying I had anything to do with people not wanting to show up in the Casbah, they're probably incorrect, since I never, ever sit/stand over there. There's no reason to stay out of that place on my behalf. Other than a few BS posters and a few others I've met over the years, ALL of whom I like just fine (Erin included), I don't know anyone over there, anyway.

I think there's more to it. And if that is it, wow.

LDB, I think your posts on this keep raking the same tired "conflict" over the coals, and continue to keep people polarized for a stupid reason. I know your comments are "good natured" and have smileys, but please, everyone, just let it rest.

Yes, they were very good with a short crew. I sit at midfield, so the Casbah and the Galaxians were relatively equidistant. Casbah was way, way, way, way, way louder (nothing against those few Galaxians that trucked up here...way to represent on a Wed. night...).

Like I've said, cased closed. That is a matter that is between me and her offline and isn't subject to gossip here or elsewhere.

    -----
However, anything else, I don't mind at all... ;)

A lot of us are more levelheaded in the North Stands. The behaviour prevalant in the Eastern stadiums is very rare--no beer bottles thrown at the pitch, no mooning of the other players, or what you, though of course, the fan's feelings towards the other team will be heard and known.

    -----
As for BlueMeanie, he does sit in the center line, while his character would be a perfect fit for the Casbah (you badmoutha my Quakes...) he likes the cozy confines of the center line where he can see the action go left and right... I think it's him, PaulChild, and goodsport that are the Center Line Gang...

While the goal of some would be to create an athmosphere all over the stadium, there are those who would like to just sit down, relax, and watch the game. Though I like to see the game from behind the goal, I also if given a chance would try to sit in the center to see how the action entails from that perspective.

However, it's still a fun place to hang out, though my ears might force me to move to various parts of the stadium every now and then for next season.

Did the Witch Doctor get eaten by the "Beast"?

    Cheers!

    Re: Re: The Casbah

As well as Pezboy, Brad, Battchy, and I'm probably forgetting a few...

If I hadn't had the same seats since day 1 in '96, and gotten partial to them, I'd go to the Casbah in a New York minute. I like standing and making noise.

Ah! We would have had the perfect enforcer next to Guy and his drum, even Bill and Darrin too! :D

As is it, when you got center line seats (or prime seats in any venue for that matter) it's tough to let them go--of course, that's why they are called the best seats in the house! :)

    Cheers!

There is only 2 reasons that I did not sit in the casbah last night.
    1) The in-fighting on this board.
    2) It would have taken me around 12 hours to drive down and I had to work.

Have you ever considered that some people just might be tired on a given day, or just not feel like standing and shouting their lungs out all game?

I got stoped with beer and food also, I told the guy if he wanted to see my ticket he would have to reach in my pocket and get it himself. :D Pretty stupid, ooohh I have expensive tickets, let me take advantage of the Quakes by sneaking into the cheap seat. Right.

Those yellow jackets are probably newbies who just finished the apeshit "bad-cop" orientation. Give 'em a week or two so that their sphincters can calm down.

There are a few that i think would jump at the chance to put their hand in the pocket of a handsome stud like myself. I usually charge big $ for that. :D

Maybe it was his first game, and he was expecting general admission to be sold out! :D
It was fun to stand with the Casbah, usually I'm with my kids and they don't like to come over, I think Guy scares them... But this is fourth time I've been with the Casbah (counting LA road trips) and we've lost every time so I don't think I'll do it anymore.

    Hi BlueMeanie!

Guy scares them? Yeah, I guess you're right. Especially when he head-butts you. ;)

No, people who throw beer bottles on the pitch, or even moon opposing players, are morons, no matter which coast they're from.
