UEFA Champions League Match Day 1 Wednesday September 19th, 2007 @ 2:45 pm EST Estadio: Jose Alvalade XXI Lisboa, Portugal
Re: Sporting C.P. x Man. United CL Matchday 1 Sept 19, 2007 I expect Ronaldo to shine, but I think SPOTING will control the middle
Re: Sporting C.P. x Man. United CL Matchday 1 Sept 19, 2007 United are a lot stronger in the middle than last year with the purchase of Hargreaves adding more steel so that may not be quite true. I think Rooney will be fit for this game so we would have Tevez and Rooney.
Re: Sporting C.P. x Man. United CL Matchday 1 Sept 19, 2007 Sporting and Manchester United have not met in a competitive Euro tie in a number of years. In the 1963/64 Cup Winners' Cup QF, Sporting were defeated at Old Trafford 4-1. The return leg at the old Estádio José Alvalade was a complete reversal, with Sporting crushing United 5-0 en route to claiming the silverware later that year. Sporting and Manchester United later met on August 6, 2003 in a friendly to open the new Estádio José Alvalade XXI. Sporting beat United 3-1, which signalled the last match for Cristiano Ronaldo in a Sporting uniform. This will be CR's first visit to Alvalade as an opponent, as well as Nani's.
Re: Sporting C.P. x Man. United CL Matchday 1 Sept 19, 2007 For those that don't know yet, this match will be shown LIVE on ESPN2 in the US and on TSN in Canada
Is anyone in the Toronto area planning on going to the Sporting club on Dupont Street to watch this match? PM me or reply in this thread if you are
I'll be watching this on my 42" high def widescreen tv in the comfort of my basement with a Super Bock, bag of chips and my NT jersey on!
Veloso and Moutinhos chance to control midfield vs the very best. with derlei out i expect vukcevic to start.
TSN is not showing the match in HD, and I am more than certain that you aren't getting ESPN2 in HD, so so much for that
well, if TSN isn't showing it on TSN then hopefully ESPN2 as I have access to ESPN2. No biggie if either don't, as long as SCP wins!
TSN is showing the game, just not in HD. ESPN2 will have the match in HD, but with you being in Canada, I am more than certain that you won't have access to the HD feed - and no, a regular FTA receiver will not get you the HD signal...
Good thing TSN is showing it the legions of Man united fans in Canada will squirm in their seats as they watch Sporting outlast and outhustle the Manchester Millionaires. FIVE-NIL Baby.. 1964 styles. Man united is my faviourte english club, but Sporting is above everything else in life.
Im so glad i get off class early on Wed so I can watch the full game. Im busting out the tracksuit and jersey and Cervejas for this one.
After another Lackluster performance by Man U this past weekend, I'm hoping they come to Alvalade the same way.
United have a long list of injured players: Hargreaves, O'Shea, Silvestre, Park Ji Sung, Foster and Fletcher are not in their line-up: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=463930&cc=5901
The injuries to Park and Foster have been known about three to four months so it makes no difference but the other four do make a difference.
They are really having a hard time scoring. They are creating decent chances, but just cannot seem to score goals...
