my stupid laptop DVD player is down to its last region change - this is ridiculous, but i think i've found a solution - it's called region free and it claims to allow your computer DVD player to... yes, play a DVD from any region even if your region change is locked - follow me? NOW i came from america to europe a few weeks ago and i dont want to trash my US region DVDs nor do i want to be limited to those 6 or 7 movies has anybody done this? the product is from www.dvdidle.com and somebody on the dell message boards suggested it like it was the end-all-be-all - i'd love to hear another testimonial or two before i take the plunge
most new dvd players are 'unlockable' meaning that the company makes one model and just programs them to work for one region. For instance, I just bought a new Philips Prog. Scan (to replace my 1st gen. Panansonic from 1997), and with a couple buttom presses, changed it to a region free. www.unlock-dvd.com
