Misbehave and you're out!

Says Pleaty, and rightly so IMO.

Tottenham caretaker David Pleat has fired a warning at his players that any misbehaviour off the park will lead to cancellation of contracts.
Pleat said: "Players know - and we've told them in no uncertain fashion here - that they are leaving themselves open to the possibility of having their contracts cancelled if they get into situations off the pitch through stupidity.

"You usually find that the dedicated professionals don't have any problems and succeed anyway, so I wouldn't say that the problems are entirely down to the money players are earning, more the stupidity of individuals.

"That's not to say the financial rewards don't contribute towards it though. Players are well-advised but some are still not sure how to cope with it. It seems crazy to me when I hear of young players owning three cars and that type of thing.

"It makes me think of someone like Jurgen Klinsmann, for example-a great professional and world class footballer, who drove an old Volkswagen Beetle when he was at Spurs."

Agreed, and very glad to hear it. But, I'm a tad surprised coming from Pleaty, although hopefully he's learned his lesson.

Hah yeah! He is a bit of a bad advert for it all!

One thing i am disappointed with, along these lines.. the FA and the England players. Removing players when they aren't guilty, yet.

Rio Ferdinand waited til the last possible moment to request a personal hearing, but the FA have not been very supportive of him.

Alan Smith was not charged after the incident with the bottle, but the Crown Prosecution Service dig up a file 3 weeks afterwards and arrest him when no one is interested. FA select him, then drop him in the same day.

Unbelievable, no wonder the players are pissed!
