    mind your own.
Repeat after me: you are allowed to boo an athlete if he puts forth a *#*#*#*# effort & he doesn't play well in a big game.

This concept isn't unique to NY, kids. Fans that expect something out of their players practice this in every part of the world. Those expectations & that environment make the player better.

I can't believe that posters suggested in the Clint attacks thread that you shouldn't boo Clint because a)it could hurt his feelings & b)you're not allowed to criticize somebody if you're not better them! (how would Arena coach if he believed in (b)?)

Brilliant. How exactly does this prepare Clint for Europe or even WCQ?? He certainly won't be held to that low of a standard in the Premeirship (not that he still has a chance of attracting interest). I can just imagine the Sun match report: ""Yank starlet Clint Mathis didn't run, wasted the few chances he had & looked like he didn't give a toss. But we're all humans, innit? Can't criticize him then! I say we keep cheering & overpaying the lad until he turns it around!"

Throwing a beer is stupid but so is this "we musn't hurt Clint's feelings" jive. No wonder some MLS players careers have gone downhill. They get interviewed by homer journalists, they're all but assured a spot in their starting 11, and the fans don't expect anything out of 'em.

Yup, you're allowed to boo an athlete...looking him in the eye and calling him a disgrace, that's another story. No fan owns him and no fan has the right to treat him like a dog who has taken a dump on the carpet. Booing is one thing, but the line was crossed.

He did have a lousy season...he maybe should be traded. But when it comes to decency, some people don't know where the line is drawn.

You apparently havent watched much hockey, cuz I saw a minor league game where a fan threw a beer on a coach, & the ENTIRE TEAM goes over the glass & chases the fan! What clint did is understandable. DO NOT THROW BEER ON THE PLAYERS!!! The guy who did that should be arrested & banned for life from Giants stadium

When was the last time there was a Clint sighting of him in the opponents penalty box area or him running into space either after a pass or in counterattacking??? If the answer is I don't remember then he deserves the abuse.

If you didn't see Clint making runs in the last game, I'm not sure what game you were watching. If you think Clint has been terrible game after game, why are you blaming Clint and not the coach for repeatedly picking him to start?
