    His form may be great now, but what about in two and a half years?

    We do have a number of exciting young midfielders coming through.

    Also, not getting by Russia and Switzerland was because we missed great players like Staunton and Quinn just as much as Keane IMO.

    I agree that Ireland would/could have qualified for Euro 2004 if they had Keane. Keane was a pivotal part of the team and brought a great deal of energy and excitement to the Irish squad. Ireland did very well in 2002 only to lose in a shoot out, and they could have done even better with the help of Roy. Keane is one of my favorite players, even though I hate Man United, and I hope that he returns to the national team.

    we may of done better if he was there, buts thats just speculation. Unless we had actually won the world cup people were always going to say that.

    Of course it's speculation because it didn't happen ,but it's a pretty bold statement to say that he wouldn't have help the team. I'm just saying he's a great player who could have done great things in 2002.

    Even if Ireland won the World Cup people would still have speculated as to how much better they could have done with Roy. You just have to expect the comparisions.
