2 days to go. For those of you who didn't know, let me brief ya. KC's playing in the Champions Cup (tournament of best concacaf clubs if you didn't know) and they've made it past WC Connection (T&T) and hated Santos Laguna (Mexico) and now they're in the semi's facing off against Morelia who got here by knocking off the Fire.

I know you're not all Wizards fans, but even I find it hard to not root for MLS clubs in international competition, especially when it's in a match against a Mexican club. It's an important game for our league so if you're not doing anything, follow the game Wednesday night.

There's no webcast for video/audio as far as I know, but luckily we can at least follow the game partially through gametracker on MLSNet.

Here's the game info for the home/away series.
Wednesday, August 7 - Monarcas Morelia vs. Kansas City Wizards, Estadio Morelos, 3:00 p.m. CT
Wednesday, August 28 - Kansas City Wizards vs. Monarcas Morelia, Arrowhead Stadium, 7:00 p.m. CT

With the way KC has been playing lately, I wouldn't be shocked to get out of Mexico with a tie. They are extremely hot right now (just won in Dallas for the first time since I think it was '97?) Other than losing to San Jose twice (arguably the best team in the league, and we did beat them last time we played), and the Metros once, the Wizards haven't lost in 14 games. There's definately a chance here for the Wizards, and as long as we can get out of Mexico by trailing by only 1 goal in this aggregate series, I'll be very hopeful for the chances of getting through to the Final round.

Unfortunately there's some speculation as to whether Igor Simutnikov will be able to play in the game or not because of some work eligibility issues in Mexico since he's from Russia. That will be a big blow to the Wizards as he has been probably the most explosive player on the offensive side. But we'll hear if they got that problem cleared up or not in the next few days and if the Wizards will actually be able to play a legitimate game down in Mexico which has yet to happen for us.

But anyways... Let's go Wizards, and MLS!

And if anyone cares, the other semifinal will be played between Pachuca and Aluense (there's a "j" in there somewhere) on the 14th and 21st.

The finals are penciled (this is CONCACAF, afterall) in for September 4th and 18th.

    Go Wizards!

As insufferable as Derek would be if they won, I'm still behind the Rainbow Warriors for this one.

I could care less about the result.

I do have but three words for the KC team, though:

    Drink.

    The.

    Water.

I hope next year if this competition becomes a bit more "settled" and locked in, that maybe FSW will pick up a few games next year as there's probably an audience for games like this out there.

    Buena suerte Wizards!

Its pretty pathetic that some of us are dancing in the streets over a game tracker.

Dare to Dream. If the US Open Cup can make the schedule, maybe this can too . You gotta figure FSW Espanol would have some interest.

Since I don't Spanish - and I will deny ever saying this: Allez Wizards.
