    The Marinos-Jubilo competition is interesting...
I must say Gamba Osaka and Kyoto Purple Sanga are doing great these days.

How's Park Ji-sung doing. I caught a glimpse of him playing last night but didnt pay much attention because I had to watch Suwon play.

He's doing great. Matsui is awesome, too. Kyoto developed the youth talent pool in the second division. They quit wasting time and money for big names. (Kobe is repeating that right now.) Attendance tripled. All they need is a football stadium like the one in Sendai. Kyoto can finally catch on.

Verdy might avoid relegation again because Sapporo and Kobe are worse. Come on Sapporo! You shouldn't be relegated!

I think you are jumping the gun a bit (well, more than a bit).
Kyoto may have drawn big crowds for the past two home matches, but only because they were playing against Antlers and Marinos. On the telecast last night you could only hear the chants of Marinos supporters. It sounded like it was a Marinos home match!

I think you should wait until Kyoto play agains Kobe, Hiroshima or Gamba before you start predicting that football is catching on in the area.

Dont get me wrong, I think Kyoto have a GREAT team
But they still have lousy fans.

Kyoto is definitely creating new fans. That's for sure. If you doubt it, you should ask Sanga supporters. Are they lousy fans? Maybe so. But they'll learn to support the club even when the team is not in good form. I think Gamba vs Kyoto will attract a good number of people because the game is important for both.

    Itsa me!!!

Actually, the real reason why there were a lot of fans for the Kyoto-Antlers match was because Super Mario was there...

I hate to say this but Kobe deserves to be relegated. They spent money on "name" players with not much regard for how the team would actually play.

Too bad since they have a nice home stadium that people of Kobe can actually get to. Only if Mario came to Vissell matches... ;)

    „Oita (51) 1-1 Niigata (44)

    Oita is unlucky.
Niigata player slipped by himself in front of goal.
But Sandro of Oita DF got yellow card.
Oita player had protested after the game.
    It was really unlucky.

Yeah, Super Mario rules. Nintendo? well...
They have to bring Mario every week in summer.

Well, Vissel supporters are sort of confused.

The team depends on the city budget that is heavily burdened by Kobe Airport and such. Who supports the club after relegation? You can't ask for Sapporo-like support. You can't ask for money from big corporations.

There are two ways after relegation.

Kyoto -- Attendance sharply declined. Cut the "name values" and developed the youth program. Became a better club than before relegation.

Shonan -- Lost sponsors. Cut down the team budget and released players. Became stagnant in J2.

See the difference? It's corporate money. Kyoto has Kyocera and Nintendo. Kobe does not.

If they can stay this year, Wing Stadium could create more loyal supporters, but if they relegate, well, they could follow Shonan's path...

    Re: Re: J1 & J2 Results [R]

J2 has some poor referees, you know... Oita seems so defensive. They manage to draw but they don't seem to play good games. If you score a number of goals and defend well, you win. They aren't doing that right now. If Oita slows down, promotion fights will be more interesting...

    Takahara's hat trick is great!
    Who wins, Jubilo or Marinos?

Gamba and Sanga finally slow down, but their amazing performance is respectable.
