The gossip is that Ashton may be sold, if the Hammers get Darren Bent. Does anyone really think there's any comparison between them? Ashton's the best central striker we've had in years, and is improving all the time IMO. I think it would be a big mistake to let him go now.
Other clubs are always going to be interested in good players. His wages are also low, by todays standards, so he may be fishing for a new cotract.
I think if the money is good and we can get a replacement of suitable quality, we should do the deal. Ashton's injury record is terrible and most of the time when he is fit, he looks like the can't be bothered. I fear he is treading the path of the last bleached blond balding striker we had, John Hartson. As such, we need to mug somebody up and get shot before he's washed up.
