A very, very interesting article on a lot of subjects. Thanks for the link.

The commentary included in another story on the site is less insightful. Apparently, people who are fans of different leagues hate each other and the only way to help soccer is to have foreign teams from various countries invest in MLS to take advantage of this parochial hatred we all have for one another.

These people have to stop giving interviews to people whose only journalistic accomplishment is buying a domain name.

Which is too bad, because there are some thoughtful opinions here.

A couple that jumped out to me:

That's interesting coming from FSC. I would have thought they would rather have the "name" DPs to market around, but he seems to suggest spreading that money over the roster might be better.

    This too:

An attractive matchup in an exclusive time slot seems key. Given how many games are on Saturday night, that seems opposite to what FSC would like.

    Finally, this on SSS:

Not a great surprise, but it is interesting to see an FSC executive suggest that the benefits of an SSS do translate to the TV broadcast -- something I think that was particularly true for Chicago last year. Those games televised really well IMO, even though other players had larger crowds.

I guess we Seattle fans are not the only elitists....

What is so elitist about expecting some sort of professional competancy from coverage of the league? It was a nice interview of Steinberg taken to such a horrifically junior high extreme in the second piece that might sadly get picked up by a larger media outfit because some dude clicked a link and was made a "reporter" by some web site.

If calling out hacks is elitist, I'll carry that mantle proudly.
