Seems like just as good of a time as any to start the debate on this one. Who will win the Heisman? Front runners? Ludicrous inclusions? Those left out for no apparent reason?
i hate meat'chicken but right now... chris perrry has to be the front runner in the race. as for second... who the hell knows right now, nobody is standing out.
Perry will not win. Carr will not let Perry pad gaudy stats. However he will have a better NFL career than the eventual Heisman winner. (i.e - who cares who wins the Heisman)
I will wholeheartedly admit my bias, but I want to know why Shaud Williams' name hasn't come up. I'm not saying he should win it, but he has 363 yards rushing, 6 touchdowns, 100 yards in punt returns in three games. One of these games was against Oklahoma, so it isn't like he's playing against Yale or some crap like that. He had a around a 1,000 yards last year and that was with missing a game to injury. SEC is obviously tough competition.
Don't any of the three big Florida schools have a Senior QB? I thought there was a line about that somewhere in the NCAA by-laws.
Perry could truly run up games of 180 yards / 3 TDs / 50 yards receiving for the rest of the season, and that might give it to him, but the honest truth is that he's a good player behind an awesome offensive line, on par with anybody anywhere. This line ranks up there with the 2000 team where Jeff Backus, Maurice Williams and Steve Hutchison all went in the 1st round of the NFL draft. Six years ago we saw a certain UM defender win the Heisman for the first time. What say we create history again and give it to an entire O-line?
This is very true. Perry had a couple of great plays. A one handed catch on a swing pass and the move to hurdle the ND defender of the top of my head, but for the most part on his runs of 8 to 15 yards, he ran through gaping holes. And with Michigan's time of possession edge, the line just ground down the ND front 7.
