Former pro-soccer player convicted in Belgian terror trial for al Qaida plot against NATO

A former professional soccer player who joined al-Qaida was convicted Tuesday of plotting to blow up a U.S. military base believed to contain nuclear weapons in the first verdict in a trial of nearly two dozen alleged militants.
Nizar Trabelsi, a Tunisian who once played soccer in Germany, was given the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He had admitted planning to drive a car bomb into the canteen of the Kleine Brogel air base, where 100 U.S. military personnel work.

The guy evidently played for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 80s and according to Yahoo actually met face-to-face with Osama Bin Laden. Some unbelievable *#*#*#*#*# to read just signing on the net this morning, but then again, I've heard rumors that Bin Laden was supposedly a fan of an EPL club and could be seen in the stands at games rooting for them, so I guess football and Islamic terrorism aren't mutually exclusive.
Makes you wonder if Qaddafi's son is going to catch any hell because of the whole guilt by association thing.
