Sir Alex Ferguson has been fined £10,000 and banned from the touchline for two matches after being found guilty of misconduct by a Football Association disciplinary hearing.
The Manchester United boss was charged after his verbal outburst against match officials at Newcastle in August.
He was sent to the stand by referee Uriah Rennie following heated words with fourth official Jeff Winter.

Manchester United solicitor Maurice Watkins said the club would take their time before deciding whether to appeal.

"It's fair to say Sir Alex is disappointed but we won't make any snap decisions as it has been a long day. We will probably make a decision on Tuesday," Watkins said.

The incident happened during United's 3-0 win at St James' Park on 23 August.

Ferguson reacted angrily to Rennie's decision not to punish Andy O'Brien for bringing down Ryan Giggs on the edge of the Newcastle area.

The manager kicked a ball away in disgust and remonstrated with fourth official Winter on the sidelines before being dismissed by Rennie.

Winter was then subjected to a sustained four-letter tirade from the Scot.

Ferguson faced two separate counts, one relating generally to alleged "improper conduct" and the other specifically to claims that he used abusive language to the match officials.

    England.
    Poor Sir Alex is banned.
    Why ?!!

I thought it was very funny.
Especially seeing as though it was poor Jeff Winter who copped the sharp, foul edge of Fergie's apparently uncontrollable tongue but the Karate kid Mr Rennie got off Scot-free (pardon the pun) when he arrived.

Not that Fergie likes to bully folk, though. ;-)

    Fugging joke

I didn't see the game but sheepboy seems a bit of a tosser so whenever something goes against him, all power.

But The FA will continue to remain a joke, and clubs like manure and anus will continue to behave like morons and thugs until some real penalties are imposed.

10 grand for Fergie is like you or I getting fined our tea money for the day. It's a joke. And so is 2 games off the touchline.

Once again the message the authorities have sent to the uglies is "play however the **** you want, we'll never do more than slap you on the wrists. Trust us, we know full well, we need you more than you need us."

    Tossers.

On a different subject. Crew Toon, is this you?
