    Day 5 starts today:

    Friday

    FC Volendam (12) - NEC (8)
I think it's a good bet Gentenaar can keep a clean sheet this game, thus scoring me precious points. NEC looked good last week against Twente, being the better team even with 10 men.

    Saturday

    Willem II (7) - FC Zwolle (18)
Zwolle aren't really doing so bad, only letting in 5 goals in all their matches combined, against opponents like Ajax, Roda and RKC. Only their offense is lacking. That said, I expect Willem II to win this match.

    Vitesse (17) - Roda JC (10)
Man, Vitesse are going to have one tough year: having to miss Amoah untill almost the winter stop. They'll also have to do without Konterman and Claessens for this game. So Roda should at least come away from this game with a draw......at least! Come on Anastasiou!

    ADO Den Haag (16) - RBC (13)
I would like to think Den Haag could beat this team, but RBC are even better than Volendam, and they only managed a draw against them last week. Meh. Maybe van der Gun will be more fit, and the other players even more eager to FINALLY win a game, that things will go different this week.

Den Haag who will once again let in supporters into the stadium who don't have a clubcard after the success of last week, they must have seen that I finally attended one of their games again, and want me to come over every week. :D

    AZ (5) - FC Heerenveen (4)
I'm going to go against Rutger's advice, and let my defender from AZ play this week. :p I'm betting on AZ winning this game without too much damage, although it could easily go the other way.

    FC Twente (15) - RKC (3)
RKC have not won any of their 3 last matches in Twente, but they will probably want to "van zich af bijten" after last week's trashing in Amsterdam, I think they'll get the 3 points this time. Which is why Hoogendorp is playing for my team.

    Sunday

    FC Groningen (9) - FC Utrecht (14)
I don't know why, but I have got a strange feeling that Utrecht will win this match, it's either that or gas.

    NAC (11) - Ajax (1)
Ajax seem to have found their form just in time for their 1st game in the champion's league, so I don't expect them to slip back to their bad playing from a few weeks back, but then again, they won those games as well even when they were playing crappy, so it doesn't really matter: Ajax take the 3 points.

    Feyenoord (6) - PSV (2)
Match of the week! (duh) PSV have been playing slightly better than the Rotterdammers, and also getting the better results so far, but I'm going to have to agree with what was said on Studio Voetbal; I think Feyenoord will win this one also. I know it goes against all that both teams have shown in the last weeks, but I just do.

    Day 5 starts today:

    Friday

    FC Volendam (12) - NEC (8)
I was going to say they split the points, but despite Mo Buys two pks Volendam goes down to Mr. Short name, Patrick Ax. I predicted he would do well, and there he is.

    Saturday

    Willem II (7) - FC Zwolle (18)

Willem II is looking to explode, but Zwolle has been defending well...until this game. Willy depants the Zboys.

    Vitesse (17) - Roda JC (10)
Vitesse suck. Roda will own them by halftime. 0-2.

    ADO Den Haag (16) - RBC (13)
Den Haag wants Oscar, so they will be in all they glory to impress him once again. I want a club card - how much are they?

    AZ (5) - FC Heerenveen (4)
    AZ wins close game.

    FC Twente (15) - RKC (3)
RKC must show they have cajones, but Twente is also pissed. So look for a tie, 2-2

    Sunday

    FC Groningen (9) - FC Utrecht (14)

Utrecht should win, but they have no healthy defenders. FC G pulls this one out 2-1

    NAC (11) - Ajax (1)

The Breda boys want to salvage something, but Ajax is loaded and they know I hate them. Ajax 2-Nac 1

    Feyenoord (6) - PSV (2)

Have to go with the big boys from Rotterdam. PSV is devasted from their loss in CL, plus Feyenoord has giant cajones and will play hard.

Why don't we do an Eredivisie prediction league like the other boards?

3 points for picking the winner and 5 if you get the scoreline?

I'll volunteer to keep track of the standings, we'll start next week.

Hopefully we get more than just two people, but I think at least Oscar will join us.

    Excellent!

Start a prediction league thread and we'll get some more of the die-hards to join.

Ill make a script for it, just like the one has made for the champions league predictions thread.

Thus copy, paste and automatic calculated and if needed automatic standings. But Im not the right man for coping and pasting the results every week since Im not really a frequent visitor... I know this looks wierd. But when Im abroad I mostly dont have time to check bigsoccer out : )

i'll play too but can i make a sugestion? guessing the right winning score should be worth AT LEAST as many points as only guessing the result - the result has 3 potential outcomes while the score has several more... therefore i say the score prediction has been devalued too much by the CL game

    my 2 cents

    GO AJAX!!!!

That's a good suggestion, how many points should the correct scoreline be? 7? 8? 9? 10?

I like 7 points for a correct score

    3 for the right outcome

My idea was to have everyone post their predictions in a standard format, for example like this:

    [prediction]
    1-0 FC Volendam - NEC
1-0 Willem II - FC Zwolle
    1-0 Vitesse - Roda JC
1-1 ADO Den Haag - RBC
    3-1 AZ - FC Heerenveen
    2-1 FC Twente - RKC
1-0 FC Groningen - FC Utrecht
    0-1 NAC - Ajax
    1-2 Feyenoord - PSV
    [/prediction]

Where the only standards are: the prediction tag and to have the result infront of the match. (the order doesnt mather)

By keeping such a standard it should be possible to have a 'script' extracting the info out of this thread and by that calculating the standings automaticly.

Which im going try to get working on:
    http://www.onssneek.nl/bigsoccer/test1.php
(which is within 30 minuts, I feel lucky :p)

And the last step would be to have the standings beeing output as an image. (Something I forgot how to do :p)

As you can see its starting to shape up:
    http://www.onssneek.nl/bigsoccer/test1.php

I can now extract all the infomation needed from a bigsoccer thread: thus the poster, post date and the post contents.

The post contents is then checked for predictions tags, and when they are found the predicitions are extracted of out it with the matching poster and post date. This to link predictions with and poster automaticly and the time is used to check if the prediction havent been posted after a match :p

    [prediction]
    2-0 Vitesse - Roda JC
3-0 Willem II - FC Zwolle
8-0 FC Groningen - FC Utrecht
    3-0 FC Volendam - NEC
2-1 ADO Den Haag - RBC
    3-1 AZ - FC Heerenveen
    11-2 Feyenoord - PSV
    5-1 FC Twente - RKC
    0-11 NAC - Ajax
    [/prediction]

Ill continue with it in a few hours first I have to watch dtm, Manchester Arsenal and Feyenoord- PSV :p

Wow great work Rutger. Are you a computer programmer? Or do you just know a lot about computers?

I liked you fake Feyenoord/PSV prediction though, too bad it didn't come true :( .

    For completion's sake:

    FC Volendam - NEC 2-3
Goddammit, why did Volendam decide to score this game?!

    FC Twente - RKC 2-1
ADO Den Haag - RBC 1-2

At least they played better, and created more chances than they've done in their last few matches. The dissapointment that I wasn't there must have brought morale down or something that they couldn't finish properly.

Willem II - FC Zwolle 2-1
I'm glad I picked Landzaat over Sektoui :D Although Sektoui is a favourite of mine, good player, but not as stable in getting me points as Landzaat methinks

    Vitesse - Roda JC 1-1
Roda dissapointing me once again. Not nice.

    AZ - Heerenveen 3-1
Too bad de Cler didn't score that header

    Feyenoord - PSV 1-3
I would have rather seen this match live on my free tv than Manchester - Arsenal. Phew, bad game. Feyenoord fighting with what they've got, but just not being able to stop PSV who were the best team. Vennegoor had another good showing, don't know why Hiddink doesn't put him forward with Kezman every game.

FC Groningen - FC Utrecht 1-1
Fujita looks more at home in the team this week, some great passing from this guy. Good thing I didn't pick Vreden this week.

    NAC - Ajax 4-2

I will try to finish my last bits tomorrow, which is not more then keeping track of the standings.

Because as you can see on:
    http://www.onssneek.nl/bigsoccer/test1.php
The latest predictions of every poster (if they are in the correct time span) are extracted and calculated. So that the next step is to save it and to make an image of the table.

If you want you can try it out by posting your prediction in a format like this:
thus between a prediction tag (the [prediction] and [/prediction]) and to write the score before the club names.
And yes I know the matches allready have been played, but this is just a test :p

Woho there, this isnt basketball. Whouldnt be 1 point for the correct result and 3 points for the correct score beter?

late Januari, probally to London but Im still trying to go to sunny warm superb great wonderfull Barcalona :)

Oh btw I just remember I tripped over a dead junkie in Barca something like 3 months back, still a great city :p
