Donovan was on the WSCR radio show with boers and bernstein. They asked about Beckham of course and how it felt to be a villian as someone wrote he is a hero and villian. Donovan said he enjoys being the villian some time. He explained in Chicago he would be booed as a member of the fire but cheered as a member of the national team. He said if the US plays their best and Brazil doesn't they have a chance to win.
Wow, times sure have changed. As far back as I can remember Boers would never give anyone in the soccer world the time of day. Anyone else remember the '94 WC and how much WSCR enjoyed having FIFA in town? What are the odds there's a podcast link or whatever? I'd be really interested to hear the full interview/segment.
Very likeable guy, don't know why so many people don't like him but hes a really smart and open guy. Good interview, but I wish they would have asked deeper questions instead of the same generic "Hows it like to play next to Beckham" "Is Brazil that good" ETC. I wish they would have asked him more about the MLS how he felt about playing in Europe etc.
