I think Bonfrere has had enough time to prove himself, but I've lost faith in him now. I thought Pim Verbeek, Hiddink's assistant might have been the better option. But I think the technical committee made fools of themselves during the process that led to Bonfrere's hire.

I can't believe they gave the press a list of coaches whom they had neither contacted in advance, nor investigated the contractual situations with their current clubs. It was very naive to think that Metsu would take at least a 100 percent paycut to take a position at a team that would almost certainly fail to meet the expectations of the fans and the upper management. With the list of names that were on this list, I'm surprise Sven G-E's name wasn't there.

Realistically speaking, maybe Ian Porterfield should be given the coaching position. He is doing a good job at Pusan, with lesser-known talent, while Suwon, supposedly the Chelsea of K-League, are underachieving. Porterfield has plenty of experience with top-class football, and I think having coached in the Premiership gives him more valuable experience and credentials than Bonfrere, who was lucky to take over a team composed heavily of players that won the U-20 Championship only years before.

    Opinions, please.

this is interesting, i was just reading about Porterfield on naver news. it looks like he's done great things so far with busan.. but what's his biggest accomplishment so far? isn't it like taking a FIFA ranking #50 team to #25 with some country (whose name eludes me at the moment)? if it was due to him, i think it's pretty impressive..

but yeah, i agree that just about anyone (well maybe not anyone) would be better than bon frere. i dont trust the guy, not that my trust matters. i watch KNT and i feel like we're regressing, not progressing. why does he favor lee dong-gook and kim dong-jin so much? my fave player, lee young-pyo, is wasting away on the right side in the meantime. why did he not make substitutions in the kuwait game when it was obvious that we were winning, to let non main players get some experience and rest the obviously injured players? why why why? o_O o_O

no, i dont like bon frere. i wish they'd change NOW.

i wonder, however, if it's now just too late.

and i also wonder that as long as korean football association (chook-hyup) is full of people more interested in entrenching their power and not in the game itself, it doesnt matter who is the manager/coach because chook-hyup will just control by controlling purse strings..

We shouldnt forget that has taken Korea to the World Cup, but there was some problems under the way. He made some really weird things, from the players he choose to coaching. So first, lets see how he manage to handle the games before the World Cup , if he ********s it up. Change manager.

it's either now of never, but even now is too late.

and no matter what the fans are blabbing about, Bonny will be our coach in Germany next year.

it's true that Bonny was in charge for about a year and haven't showed much promise besides few games since he took over, but remember Hiddink's 1st 12 months in Korea?

his '1 year anniversary' was when we played in the Gold Cup. don't forget drawing with Cuba and getting bitch slapped by Costa Rica. not to mention getting owned by Uruguay in Montevideo a month after the Gold Cup.

The lack of time is the very reason why I mention Porterfield, because it would not be a big transition for him, because I'm sure that he knows many of the players already from having played against them in the K-League. And I think he has a much better idea of the talent within the Korean professional ranks than Bonfrere. I remember Bonfrere's comments after the Hauzen Cup final when asked if any players impressed him. He said he couldn't remember any of their names! What was he doing? Bonfrere seems always to be in Hiddink's shadow. He seems very reluctant to let go of Hiddink's players, even when they have proven ineffective like Lee Chun-soo, Yoo Sang-chul, and Ahn. And I think he is a rather poor tactician. Sure, Korea beat up on Kuwait, I think the scoreline would have been much closer if Kuwait wasn't forced into offense so early, or if Kuwait had scored first. I was very unimpressed with the games against Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and even during the first ten minutes or so against Kuwait. It is really time for a change, and it's not too late if we get someone like VerBeek or Porterfield.

he never said that he doesn't remember the players' names. he said that he didn't wanna mention anyone's name in public.

if you wanna say Bonfrere is underachieving, you can say that. but you can't say that he has no interest. the guy attends K-League games round by round and goes all the way to Europe just to see how our European based players are performing.

he's trying hard, but it's not paying off yet. is it because he's not a proven coach? maybe. but one thing you should give him credit for is that this guy is trying hard to make us better.

and to be honest, we're not doing as bad as you guys are making it out to be.

yeah lets give him a break...im not his biggest fan, but i do believe he is makign an effort to improve the team. it isnt the way that most of us want him to go about it, but i do think hes trying his heart out.

a solid win against KSA next month and a good performance in the EAFF, and we'll all be quiet about him...so lets see what happens.

Boner needs an assistant if anything, he tries to do everything by himself.

He needs a trainer with a hard regime that will whip them into better physical shape (particularily the upper body and stamina).

well, they did something similar in middle of the Hiddink era and at that time, more than 50% of people who voted wanted Hiddink out of Korea.

My thoughts: The KNT is now situated at a point of no return. If we fire him now, the KNT will be in shambles, reeling from the unexpected change in management. The WC is now LESS than a year away. I remember all the negative press Hiddink got when he took charge. Let's give Bonferre a chance.
