Olaf or anybody, is there any news in Germany about Leverkusen expanding their horizons to the US? There is a soccertimes article, but I am looking for something a little more concrete in Germany.

Cut off your finger for typing the 'n' after Bayer ;)

No, I haven't heard about it. It is one of my thoughts since quite a while that Bayern might run a MLS franchise in order to be closer to the US market and maybe also give some of their own talents a chance to prove themselves on a level better than D3/D4; might also go hand in hand with MLS giving Bayer a special treatment for future transfers. However, this are just my thoughts and I have no clue if they are becoming reality.

Can you give a link for the soccertimes article?

AEG is since this year involved in leverkusen as a media partner (regarding international marketing, i guess). there were also plans that AEG could be leverkusen's partner to develope the Bayarena.

    Huh
Put the previous post through google. This is what came out.

Advantages of co-operation with the world largest owner of club: Access to the US market and development of the BayArena. Naples/Miami - at the end of a typical pure Calmund speech on club flanks in each case the request of the guests stands to eat and drink plentifully, spoken with crude rheinischem humor. This time however, to the conclusion of the training camp in Naples, the manager before the Vips and sponsors of the club presented a hard message, which has a quite sensational character. Bavarian 04, so Calmund, stands in promising negotiations with a US enterprise. A contract over a co-operation is not yet signatory, but the things prospered far. Nobody from the club might have called the name of the partner, but nobody contradicted also, if the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) one speculated, the meeting and Vermarktungsimperium of the US billionaire Philip F. Anschutz from Denver/Colorado. AEG possesses beside the ice hockey team Los Angeles Kings also portions to the LA Lakers (basketball), the Staples center in Los Angeles and six of the ten clubs in major League Soccer (MLS). In Europe the enterprise is so far particularly in the ice hockey well-known. The polar bears Berlin, Hamburg Freezers belong to the AEG (in former times Munich of baron) as well as clubs in Switzerland, England and Tschechien. Briefly: AEG is world-wide the largest owner of club. The commitments are usually connected with building projects for modern multi-function arenas. In a co-operation with Bavarian 04 the German vice-master could bring in its football know-how and would have the foot in the door to the US market, which promises large Entwicklungspotenzial. we would be prominent in Europe. Such a thing has still nobody?, a Bavarian responsible person says. AEG again can Leverkusen in questions of the right and television marketing help and could for example the looked for investor for the development of the BayArena be. A few more seats and a variable roof drauf - would be finished one meeting-resounds, which could cover that range in the German west, for which the Cologne arena (18,000 places) too small and the arena AufSchalke (60,000) is too large. AEG would have strengthened at the same time with it its position on the German resounding market, on which also the Finnish shipowner Harry Harkimo (Color LINE arena Hamburg) pushes. A component of Anschutz concepts are always first-class, course-strong Hometeams. In the US sport one can plan such a thing. In Germany a grausiges thing can make fast bitter tears named descent from the dollar characters in the eyes. Nevertheless Bayer-04-Trainer Klaus Toppmoeller could announce to its football Globalisierer Calmund at the end of the training camp signals of hope. With consider out-played 3:0 (2:0)-Sieg (of gates by Franca, cutters and Bierofka) in the latter projecting Bernd cutter as well as olive Neuville, Franca, the young Christoph Preuss, Pascal Ojigwe and torwart Butt the good impression of the training camp hardened on Saturday against the soccer national team of Honduras confirmed. On the other hand above all Simak and the phlegmatisch working stuermer Dimitar Berbatow in the fight for the master places at soil lost January. The departure tendency was saved with the Tabellen-14. at the end of Hanno Balitsch, in the 80. Minute of the test play between them jumped, when defender Boris Zivkovic wanted to go to the colleague January Simak to the Gurgel. The Czech exchanged to the second half time had a few good actions in the offensive, but if he lost balls, it watched provoking dormant, how the defense players tried to back-fight for the ball. An internal fight in a friendship game before nevertheless 31,000 spectators in the orange Bowl to Miami would have been the latter, which would have used Bavarian 04. The team spirit may have become larger, but Simak applies also to the problem endangering the team spirit. And there are concerns for coaches Toppmoeller anyway enough. For the back round start against Cottbus are closed and world champion Lucio not yet healthy cutters, Bastuerk and Zivkovic. Defense boss Nowotny, which was preserved against Honduras, could create it perhaps up to the first obligation play, possibly also Carsten Ramelow, its right Achilles' tendon after Toppmoellers measurement to time?dreimal so thickly? is like the healthy. Simak is in the condition of Saturday a zumutung for the public and the new football year for the coach in such a way will in such a way begin, as the old stopped: With list concerns and little hope - which is based on many if.

Big help huh? Now if we can get someone to translate that?

That's old stuff. Bayer is co-operating with Anschutz, that's no secret. Don't know if I posted that before, but according to Financial Times, Bayer manager Kaenzig is having a daily phone conference with AEG. There were rumours that Anschutz builds an entirely new stadium in Leverkusen, but that's very unlikely given Bayer's pretty new arena and the fact that the investment hardly paid off yet. No facts are proved, but it's more than speculation that the Bayer/AEG co-operation is part of the Donovan loan to MLS.
