Wasnt Croatia with Sampalobby in WC 2018 and a completely different team? After what Di Maria revealed recently about that team (sampalobby was fighting with beccacece constantly anb both were telling opposing things to the players, the atmosphere was awful, sampalobby changed tactics every day, etc etc) is a miracle we didnt get destroyed by france.

I do agree about backpasses, we could get punished against good teams. We did manage to beat Brasil though.

Yes, I mean that could be the consequences for playing too many backpasses in our own final third.

We almost gifted them once from De Paul mistake.

If Enzo Perez finished his chance v Croatia, we would’ve likely finished first in our group and gone on to play Denmark in the R16, Russia in the Quarters, two games we would’ve likely won. Then it would’ve been an overrated English side and by then, we would’ve been in full steam forward and anything could’ve happened v France in the final.

You cant possibly lose to Russia unless we gift them an own goal, only an overrated Spain team would.

England had a micky mouse tourney to reached semi, and they lost 3 games overall.

Man please don't remind of pavon and meza starting. What a nightmare. Aguero for once in form injury free but benched. Past prime mascherano and no lo celso or Paredes. Horrific tattooed bald midget coach went thru 100s of player. Imagine barely making it to the WC and still not having a system/ formation or a base of starters.

If anyone one of us managed that team I am positive we could take to the final. That's why scaloni has been so good, he makes logical choices based on form sometimes it's as if he's reading the posts here. We don't need a contrarian stubborn coach.

I think the AFA waited way too long to get rid of freakin Bauza. I also blame Tata as well. The guy dragged his damn feet after the 2016 CA Final and Sampa wanted the job but Sevilla offered him a job and he took it. A few days later Tata decided he’ll step down. What a god damn shit show. Now, if Sampa had more than, I don’t know 8 months,‘I think it could’ve been a different story. I believe he got the job with 2 or 3 games left in the qualifiers. He had Sevilla playing great football during that year. He’s now doing a good job at OM as well. But to play his style, you needed the personnel and with international football, you need time, which he didn’t have.

Ooohh Mario, let it go. Twenty years from now you’re going to be the crazy guy on the corner rambling about “if Enzo Perez finished his chance, we would have faced Russia, and we would have been unstoppable, and then we would have won the WC!!”, writing all sorts of conspiracies all over your car. It’s over, move on...

Besides, you’re too confident we would have won that game. Caballero would have probably thrown it away, if our disastrous defense didn’t.

What do you guys think about the other teams? Who is qualifying?

With this last date (and taking out ARG and BRA, that have one less match than the rest, eventhough they still sit at the top of the list) some teams have improved their position (Uruguay, now 3rd) others have gone down a bit (Ecuador, now 4th). Colombia is 5th. Peru is complicated and Chile is very complicated. Only 7 points in 9 games? They are getting too far from the WC

What do you guys think? Is this the end of Chile golden generation? Will Peru come through? Will Uruguay qualify playing their trademark ugly football? Will Ecuador qualify? What about Paraguay?

Eventhough nothing is guaranteed yet, imo, ARG and BRA are almost already qualified. Uruguay and Ecuador and Colombia are the most likely candidates to qualify. Ecuador has a promising team, so does Colombia, that shows moments of brillance and has excellent players such as Diaz. Uruguay sucks but they are Uruguay, they'll probably qualify. I had faith in Peru cause of the Copa showing, but they are sucking.

And Chile sitting at the bottom of the list? Kind of a disgrace (for them)

TBH, I wouldn't blame him. The jersey looks super sick with that gold emblem on the jersey.

Still a bit bitter that ANVISA/CBF robbed Messi of the chance to steal Pele's record on Brazilian soil, but it is what is...

Chile didnt have golden generation, they just had generation that good at earning and winning penalties. Winning 2 thropies without scoring a single goal in 2 finals plus not even qualify for World cup....you gotta be kidding! I'd call it silver or bronze generation!

Colombia definetely improving alot since the middle of Copa . Diaz is definetely one of best South American player right now.

    The teams that will qualify

    Brasil
    Argentina
    Uruguay

Ecuador, it will be kinda tricky for them. Remember, they play us on the very last day. We will be qualified by then. So, I’m not sure if we will go gung-ho in that much and depending on what’s going on, we may play on second gear. But I don’t think losing should ever be an option but if it eliminates another team that could pose problems for us in Qatar who knows. I remember I had a Colombian friend who always complain about 2002 qualifiers he said Argentina has laid down for Uruguay for a draw, which basically eliminated Colombia from going to SK/Japan. He said you Argentines wanted payback from their victory some years back. I always laughed at that.

Colombia’s next three matches are at Uruguay, they have Brasil visiting and Ecuador as well. They need to get 4 points from that or they’ll be in trouble. They have a really strong schedule, only simple game they have left is home v Bolivia. Even their last match is away at Venezuela, and you know the Venezuelans would love to rain on their parade.

Only Chile you’ll be seeing in Qatar is the chili-cheese fries! Amirite?!

Messi has been very emotional from the start. This was after the first goal...

True. I think the wet field didn’t help. Bolivia had their share of bad back passes too. Still, it’s something to work on.
