The young talent on the US roster? How do your young players math up to guys like Landon Donavan, Eddie Johnson, DaMarcus Beasley or Bobby Convey? I know very little about Mexican Futbol except the senior team and my knowledge of them has dipped since 2002.

Do you feel your youth will match up well aganist the US in the next 3-4 years. What is the general feeling in this forum?

Considering Mexico's U-23 beat USA's 4-0 last time they faced, no, I'm not too concerned.

I'm not concerned at all. Young USA talent seems bound for Europe where the pay is way better, except in the case of Adu. So it seems that USA footie fans seem to hold this as some type of barometer of where the talent level is. Which in reality is not the case. Most of all the talent in Mexico stays there due to the huge salaries these players can make. Also Mexico's under 23 team did beat USA 4-0 .

USA got out classed in every way. the goalie that played that game played pretty good. prevented the scoreline from being worse.

Yes this is true. Back in 1995 when a fairly young US squad beat Mexico 4-0 in US Cup 95' some Mexicans thought the world was coming to an end. Every team has a bad day from time to time.

I guess what I should say is that on the Men's Senior level Mexico has not had a victory over the US in a number of years. I would imagine this combined with the strong youth talent coming into our teams would cause problems for Mexico for a while to come.

Yes, but the queston is are we as fans concerned about the USA. The answer is no. I don't see a problem with the level of USA getting better.

  9. fact is mexico doesnt care about usa they dont give a ********

they dont play there full theyd probably forfeit the game if it werent for heavy sanctions theyd receive

Friendly, and more friendly games. dud, do you know how many times this same topic has been discuss here and in WR? And then you are going to answer "who knocked you Mexicans out of the WC 2002" and somebody here is going to answer back "Who won the Gold Cup defeating brazil's U-23 when the US couldnt'" and we're going to keep discussing until sid comes and closes the thread because we are saying racist comments.

and no, im not concerned or worried.

Mexico has not been able to beat or even score against the U.S for a while now but that has been in games played in the U.S. The same can be said about the USMNT who hasnt been able to beat or even score against Mexico in Mexico.. As far as young talent goes Mexico still has more depth.

No concern, not in the least, we have no cause to be alarmed.

How can someone with 1,000 + posts seriously think this is going to get anywhere?

US Young talent is not better or worse than what most countries develop, sure for US fans it might be a novelty since you never really had much to start with so now that you have something you want to make sure everyone knows just how young you are and how many of them play in some third division German team.

Guys, this has been one of the most accurate summaries of US/MEX football I've ever read.

Lots of credit to mexicano. ***Everyone rep him***

    I personally thank you.

Nice reference to the 3rd division in Germany, Sabio. :)

I'm sure Johnson isn't the next Ronaldo, as Adu hasn't been the next Pele (yet - alert the Sam's Army media).

Everything is speculation. Sure, we won 4-0. So what? A couple of years ago I laughed at the idea of playing the U.S.

It's good to be back to this level.

    I hope.

Besides, to be honest, the same damn players we see now will be playing "3-4 years down the road" against the same damn US players.

    We don't evolve.

Like someone once said, I believe it was Solid4443252363642i3i..

Cuauhtemoc is going to play forever.

Leading goalscorer in '06 and '10.

Who are the best three Mexican players under 23? I think I personaly overvalue US talent because I don't know of any good young Mexicans or where they play. Who should I watch out for in the future?

We have a few players playing abroad many with double nationality.. There are three lads in Barcelona's reserves. The most known is Santiago Fernandez who played with club America last season and scored a few goals in the TFC CC. Then theres the Dos Santos bro's of Brazilian ethnicity, but born in Mexico to a Mexican mother. The oldest of the two Giovanny could soon be called up to the U-17 for the Youth World Cup in Peru. Also in Spain is Segura a Spaniard born in Mexico City, but not much is known about him. Completing our eurotour is Nery Castillo of Italian/Uruguayan descent also born in Mexico and currently plays in the Greek league with Olimpiakos. I believe he is the youngest player to play in for the Champions League.

In the Mexican league we have Marco Parra who will be trying out for Ajax Amsterdamn in january, he is a right winger and plays in Chivas. We also have Juan Carlos Cacho who scored Pachucas second goal to help qualify the Tuzos to Copa Libertadores. Other players to look out for are Aaron Galindo of Cruz Azul and Paco Torres of America..

Most of Mexican players are very skilled. But not many of them combine the skills with a specimen body. I watched tonight's game, that new guy Fonseca is a good example--a good player with good body type.

I like your post. I (as is obvious from my number of posts on BigSoccer) am not a veteran. Exactly what you described is what occurred on a thread I started (and was closed) today (Why the US MNT is superior to Mexico). I guess that is the natural course of discourse on this topic. "Racist" comments seems a bit out there...I did, jokingly, say someone must be Mexican because they were using poor grammar, but that is more because Mexicans don't speak English as their native language, not that Mexicans are intellectually inferior or anything like that. But I guess as soon as a moderator sees this kind of thread come up, they assume that it will lead down the spiral you described, and close it. Oh well, because I think it can be a lively discussion, and we get to learn the points of view of our rival's supporters, which is always a good thing when trying to be more educated about football in general.
