Jemal Johnson likely to start for MK Dons as Southend visit. Match preview & team news -- sportinglife.com JJ's been in good form of late, but will he play up front or on a wing? That remains to be seen. 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET for the live kickoff...
Game ended 2-0 to Dons. Jemal played 80 minutes, but didn't score or assist either goal. From the live MK Dons ticker it looks like he was dangerou all game: http://www.mkdons.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10420~1501802,00.html
Based on the last few matches game commentary, Johnson has been the most threatening Don and may be their most in form player right now.
While he didn't score or assist, I believe his 56th minute "rampaging run" through the Southend defense led to a yellow card foul 30 yards from the goal, and the proceeding free kick was knocked in for the Dons' 2nd goal, so in that sense he was involved. He's obviously become a very key cog in their promotion run. Knock on wood it'll continue.
Jemal Johnson being on the team aside, as someone who remembers the glory days of Wimbledon's old "Crazy Gang" and loved reading about their exploits back in the day, I'd love to see MK Dons get promoted.
Milton Keynes. True, they follow along the same geneological path as the old "Crazy Gang" that once won the F.A. Cup with Vinnie Jones, John Fashanu and others on that team. Except that Wimbledon never really had its own ground when Plough Lane had to shut down -- and Milton Keynes was the suburb that could offer one. I'm sure we could find more details on Wikipedia somewhere, on the Dons, old and new.
Yup, you're right on all of that. They got promoted from League 2 last year so they're on the way up. That club has been through A LOT the last few years. Great to see them on the comeback trail.
I think a lot of people are upset over the relocation of Wimbledon AFC into Milton Keynes Dons. Think Seattle Sonics to Oklahoma City Thunder.
