any indication why JOB didn't even make the bench? is he slated to play a reserves match at least ? what's the deal?
The fact that Kaz is a bench regular for NEC is significant to me at least. He is an injury/bad form away from playing. He's young enough, where if he does his time....he can get his shot. Remember, this kid was NOT on the 1st team (bench) in previous years...was loaned out/playing the SECOND DIVISION in Holland (different position)...and wasn't playing all the time.. We have enough of these kids like Kaz or the guy in Greece or Demerit in the pipeline, one(or a couple) will break thru...
no clue, but he may play for jong AJAX on monday - maybe it is for the best that JOB didn't play today because this one has been a rough contest, bodies flyin' everywhere and the ref is clueless
came on for Björn van der Doelen who is a midfielder. but down a a goal with less than 2 minutes left, you've gotta think he's up front.
kazlauskas came in as a sort of long ball flick down man - he started a nice 3 man combo that forced a HUGE last minute save by stekelenburg
Then the young man certainly does have some time to get it right....Obviously, Neeskens (who I'd think knows talent when he sees it) sees something strong in the kid.....he wouldn't have the kid on the bench every game if he didn't think he can bring it now/bring it in the near future (w/some development)....and that's pretty damn good. Here's hoping Kaz using his op/ops when he gets 'em...
It just KILLS me about CHARLES! He came in with 3 minutes left and gave NEC its ONLY genuine scoring chance aganist Ajax in 90 minutes and yet ya'll dissect him like you've known him for YEARS at the family Christmas party! =) If Neeskens had a BRAIN he would play Charles 90 minutes and watch the kid produce. He would save Neeskens' pathetic job at NEC AND give NEC something to CHEER about (not to mention my cute self). Anyone have a clue as to why Neeskens is such a NARROW MINDED ASS? Well, I suspect it's because he's leaving NEC in 2005. What's the point of keeping Charles on the bench besides the fact that Neeskens is a bilious moron? Come Neeskens - I know you're out there... Any comments??
I'm just wondering... is Koeman giving any reasoning recently as to why O'Brien isn't making the lineup? Is he regressing during training or, what am I missing here?
Although I am fully aware of his record as a player, it has absolutely no relation to his ability to coach a team. He is the epitome of a universal fallacy that a great player makes a great coach. Please look at NEC's record over the past five years and then respond to me. Thank you.
P.S. Almost forgot -- I am NOT related to Charles Kazlauskas or to his father (besides amorously, of course).
Neeskens hasn't been at NEC for 5 years and he did fine in 2,000 Euros as an assistant to Rijkaard ... though the team would have done better if Bergkamp and Kluivert converted those PKs against Italy. PS. Having seen him on the pitch, it's hard for me to doubt his football acumen.
Neesken's problem is he wouldn't know a soccer ball if it bit him in his achterste kwarten. In order to coach and properly evaluate talent you have to know the game, inside out, not be some weekend dilettante. Don't worry, after they go on the drop, they'll find someone good...
Is that all you have to offer? I agree Neeskens would make an excellent assistant, but to make final decisions?? This Saturday against Vitesse; how about Charles deep man and the Polish guy offensive mid? I predict four goals from them in 90 minutes... Neeskens, ya getting this??
I'm not all that excited about the idea of Charles playing up top as a late game long ball recepient. That is a dead end road unless you have a full package of striker skills or are an exceptionally good center forward. If a guy like Casey or McBride is playing that role, that's one thing, they have a lot of minutes up front where they've shown the have a few more tricks in their repetoire, but this is the first Charles has played up top professionally, no? Does Charles think he has a future at forward? I can't think of a lot of backs that have been successfully converted to forward. Even guys like Canada's McKenna or Everton's back - the heck was his name?? grrrrr - that got some time up top back in Smith's day due to injuries - were established backs pushed up simply due to injuries or tactical decision in given games. When Charles first came to NEC he had some success in getting time in the back, even though his competition was an established U-21 for The Netherlands at the time. What precipiated Kaz's move to the front? Something he tried, or was it Neeskens idea?
