I agree with your beach location idea and was amazed how few people went to Fortaleza last time and we found it a real breath of fresh air, literally, sandwiched between Rio and Salvador. This time we will be a week in a small hotel in Adler and sandwiched between time in Moscow and SP. Hope your Moscow prices hold as they all seem to behaving like a cartel at present fuelled by FIFA of course!

Hi - I work for a car hire company (We try harder!!) so can only recommend them! I could get a quote for you if you can let me know the times at the airport - landing and departing. Most rentals have unlimited mileage. Added extras as far as waivers/insurance are concerned - take as many as you can afford. There will be many people driving like idiots (wrong side of the road/drunk) and that is just the South Africans! Obviously an Automatic will make things more expensive - we can all drive stick shift here. There are many rental companies springing up but the big names are a better bet for making a staggered day booking like this - avis (naturally!) Europcar, Budget. Depending on where you are staying in Joburg you might not need a car. You are driving from Cape Town to Pe right?
