how many times do I have to tell you that a woman has no place on a soccer field? (except for cheerleading)

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Female referee Silvia Regina de Oliveira had to be escorted off the pitch after she sent off three Criciuma players in their 1-1 draw at Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian championship at the weekend.

Oliveira, who has regularly taken charge of first division matches since making her debut earlier this season, infuriated the visitors even more by awarding an injury time penalty against them.

She also upset Atletico, who claimed she did not add on enough injury time.

The 39-year-old, who last month also became the first women to take charge of a match in a South American club competition, and her two female assistants were given a police escort off the field at the end as players from both teams protested.

Because male refs have never been escorted off the field before.

Exactly.. I suppose since many men have been escorted off at some time in their careers all men should be banned also.. We need to develop robots for refs.
I've seen a few of her matches and there was no problem with her work at all so now she has joined the club with most refs who were the objects of fans after a match.

I remember a game that was all over the news and *#*#*#*# because the ref was chase dout of the stadium by fans. Brilliant. He had to actually climb over a fence to escape as well. It was on one of those football blunders programmes!!

I have seen her call quite a few games and in all games that I saw she and her crew did VERY WELL. Until yesterday she had been highly praised by the Brazilian Media.

I dod not see yesterdays games but saw the highlights. Nothing extraordinary as all refs make bad calls. One note..while 7 players surrounded her the cameras caught 1 player trying to sneak kick her in the leg, I think he missed but it was such a cowardly thing to do.

PS: Game was played in the same stadium the US beat England at in the 1950 WC.

Somehow that does sound very 'southern' to me. Can't help it.

I saw the match. She spoiled the game, as simple as that! First of all, Criciuma´s goalkeeper was fouled and she didn´t call the foul. The goalie complained to the ref, who sent him off. In her point of view, he was faking - and he was not! A midfielder took his place. Well, one minute after she called a penalty against Criciuma!!! Clearly IT WAS NO PENALTY!!! Then (after the PK) she gave the final whistle! Terrible!!!

How is this different from a male ref? She has also easily called one of the best games of the season refereeing wise earlier this year if this is who I think it is.

Fine.. But that doesn't mean that a call for all women to be removed from the pitch is in order, of course..That's what bigotry (sexism is pretty much the same thing) is all about in most cases. Using an example of one instance that could be anyone and holding it against an entire group of people (in this case the biggest group on earth) or even making up a generality. I simplify a bad problem so I apologize.

    Careful bud.

That's nothing new to me. In Ballarat and where I umpire aussie rules we are always given a police escort whenever Sunbury Football Club are playing.

Sure but the thread wasn't about how good or bad her performance was.

    Really?

The thread: Woman ref escorted out by police!

    The cause? Her poor performance.

If the referee (female or not) was fair enough
in her decisions, this incident would not have taken place. So, her terrible performance has a main role in this case.

Neovox, obviously you aren't too familiar with lond73289473208570238 or whoever:

Ela interferiu diretamente no resultado do jogo.

What the Brazilians said was that she is the best ref to ever blow a whistle in their land and they want more women refs and wish their was less machismo and sexism on these boards, I think. :)
