    UVA over Wake 2:1

Big win for UVA tonite. We played a 4-5-1 and dominated possession. For the first half, the UVA midfield and defense outplayed Wake. Will Hall played very well, and Zane Hill played well starting in place of Joe Vide. Vide came in with about 10 minutes left in the half and showed excellent touch. Dinnall was also exceptional and the back four played strongly.

The first goal was set up by Freeman, and the corner was well struck by an on-coming Matt Oliver into the back of the net.

UVA kept the pressure on into the second half and got a sweet goal off an assist from Dinnal to Cristman. Cristman struck the ball from past the 18 and through the diving keeper. Cristman displayed toughness and it paid off tonite.

Just when you thought that UVA was going to break the game open, Wake scored on a big cross to an open man in front of the net. The game then got very physical. The ref did not seem to sure about how to handle all the contact.

Overall, UVA clearly deserved the win. It was one of the better games I've seen in the last few years.

Thanks for the report, KD. Don't worry about the (R) freaks. If somebody doesn't want to know the results of a match, they shouldn't be stupid enough to read a thread about the match when it's over.

    freaks?

Some of the better programs have their games on TV and sometimes on tape delay so I don't want the scores in the titles in case I'm watching later. Speaking of freaky, UVA beats Wake...now that is a major upset.

    Re: freaks?

If you think that is a major upset, you have not seen these two teams play. UVA is easily one of the best teams in the country when their egos are in check and they play smart ball.

Sorry, terp fan, your "some of the better programs" hit a nerve! UVA used to be one, and may well be again in the future. I do wish UMD good luck in upholding the ACC domination in the final four. I also agree that the score shouldn't be in the title. Perhaps Courtney fixed it before I saw it.....Oh, just nevermind.

Just heard from a source that Jeremiah White suffered a fractured skull from an elbow and needs surgery. He's definitely done for the season and who knows about his future in soccer. My prayers go out to him and his family.

    so sorry

Wow, sorry to hear this. He is probably the most explosive attacking player in the country. I certainly hope this is not career threatening nor has any other impacts as he moves on in life. We will be praying in Terptown.
