Glory days of USWNT are over!
and it's amazing that you or US soccer can't see that.

Re: It has to be over now for April

    WOW, great stuff!!!!!
    The best part:
"we are about to find out what U.S. Soccer thinks about women’s soccer in this country. If they make a coaching change, then they care about us. If they don’t make a change, despite tonight’s realization that these players have quit on this coach, then they don’t care about women’s soccer at all"

I'm, trying to think of a similar situation where reputable management/ownership didn't axe the coach by now - I can't think of one.

The common denominator in all this discussion eventually leads back to the coaching.

Interesting you read my post and read "I blame Cramer for it."

    where did i mention April?

    Try reading it again.

    i asked a simple question.

How much did it hurt Wagner's development that time was wasted on another potential #10?

Very simple. not putting the NT's performance on it. I'm focusing on the individual. A question that has nothing to do with April.

Not to create an argument over the issue, but do you really believe that the US women have better skills (I'm talking about basic ball skills...trapping, passing, dribbling) than the rest of the world? Off the top of my head, I firmly believe that Brazil and China easily display superior ball skills than the US. I also believe that Germany, Sweden, and N. Korea showed greater ball skill than the US did during the World Cup.

The US can still beat other teams with sheer athleticism, agression and fitness, but the basic ball skills are quite poor, and that predicament will haunt us in years to come.

I may be somewhat religious, but it was not God lofting long balls into the box in hope someone would get to them before the Italians.

how can a player w/out a skill can head the ball beautifuly into the back of the net, at least first she needs to be on the right position to get that ball among other players who also try to get that ball (that also called skill)and than she has to direct (another skill)the ball which needs enough power to not miss the target, thats all skills, and players like Wambach, Boxx or Parlow have those skills, also we pass the ball good, players like Ally Wagner, Faudy, Hamm, Lilly, Chastain, Fawcett are good at that and they all equiped w/ advance's soccer skill, first touch is good (only sometime happened to some players due to inexperience or nerve problem), i don't know which team you watched, but, i don't think we have skill problem, maybe you're the one who need skill how to take care you girl/boy friend so she/he is not gonna dump you.

My Goodness, I just realized that your post is possibly the longest sentence I've ever seen. Somewhere an English teacher is spinning in her grave.

have you seen Christine Lilly pasionately dribbling the ball on the left side of the field beating 2, 3 defenders before sending dangerous crosses, that is skill, no other player in the world can match the skill she has

    Huh!!

I don't see enough of it. Lil is invisible in about half of our matches.

And...There are Chinese, German, and Swedish players as good as she is.

And...Lil and Mia might be the only reasonably skilled players we have.

And...tactically, they are passed over the top
    ( Lil ) or don't benefit from combination play ( Mia ).

    HA!
    what a joke!
plenty of players can run down the field with the ball and cross it in! Don't get me wrong, i love Lil, but even Kara Lang who was 16 was running down the right flank with the ball, beating players, and crossing it in and even needing two defenders covering her in the US game. If the US had the best skill they would've won the WC. But they don't. The team i once thought to be invincible no longer is.
AH or whoever the next coach shall be needs to start bringing in some youth to the nat'l team quick!

God put us in third place to punish us for April being a lousy coach and certain veteran players for hanging on for too long.

Was Wendy actually criticizing the team? I didn't really notice that. But then again, I'm so used to hearing her come up w/ excuses for the team, that I might have missed it.. I was rather disappointed in JP. He is a great announcer for the CL games on ESPN. But when he does USWNT games, he's worse than Jack Edwards.

I agree w/ you about needing a change in the culture. Unfortunately, I think the team believed too much of the media hype after WWC99 and got lazy after that. I'm wondering if all the whoopla effected the way the younger kids in the program and their pride about being on the USWNT. By this I mean, maybe the younger kids just see it soley as a means of making money as opposed to respresenting the country and being the best player you can be.

I don't think it's April's fault so much as it is US Soccer fault for hiring her. Most people in the organization know about her inability to coach. She shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Does anyone know why she had so many different assistants? I'm not saying this was her sole problem, but it is curious. I' wonder if Bill Palladino was brought in to help "save" what April was destroying..any thoughts?

Why are blaming G-D? G-D didn't ask the US Soccer to hire losers like AH, and then says this:

There is no way USWNT will win another major tournament anytime soon, unless there is new
    coach hired for the USWNT.
USWNT has only scored 2 goals in the last 7 games from run of play.

Finally, if Dr. Contiguglia can't see the need for a new coach for USWNT, and thinks soccer is only about scoring from set pieces, then he shouldn't be in charge of US Soccer.

Stop blaming G-D and start blaming US Soccer or Ms. No Clue Coach of the USWNT and the US Soccer President , who has stated that AH has done a fabulous job.

    Who?

I would say that I have as much knowledge as you.
However, a review of your past ten posts does not reveal anything other than comments on personalities. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

It is easy to attack people, show me what you disagree with so much as to question my knowledge.

Actually, I guess I should I have specified my question. I was actually directing that to sexysadie, since she put the question out to you, Elroy.
