Ok, I'll take the bait. Neither team deserved to win in my opinion. Sweden took the lead with a "shot" which barely had enough momentum to pass the goal line by a player not unfamiliar to this thread. Canada's goal was a penalty gifted by a Xhaka aspirant (Illestedt) who executed a totally unnecessary and clumsy challenge in the box. And then both teams competed to see who could be the worst penalty shooters in the game - a shoot-out I missed (deliberately) and still haven't seen (so this part is hearsay on my end). I think that the sentiments expressed by a number of people in the stuff I've read about Sweden deserving to win have to do with their judgement of Sweden's overall performance in the tournament and not the debacle that was the final.

I read Bennison was the most expensive transfer of last year, but didn't know it was all-time. She hasn't made that much of an impression at Everton (yet?). She did well as part of Gerhardsson's finishers at the Olympics (Gerhardsson is famous in Sweden for always talking about two lineups, the starting lineup and those that finish the match). And it looks like two other Swedes, Kullberg and Zigiotti-Olme didn't manage to turn the tide at Brighton either, but hey it's early days (or for Brighton lately, early daze).

Yep, that's the conventional way of putting it. But if you listen to Gerhardsson, it's more like the two "lineups" are equivalent. The finishers aren't necessarily coming in to change anything, rather the opposite i.e. to continue something (namely the style of play he favors).

Yeah he's high press and simply run the opponent into the ground. Like the Japanese women in 2011. A couple of Leeds goals today were the result of West Ham players not tracking the trailing runners in the attack because they were gassed. Brand had a contract in Hoffenheim until June 2023 but Wolfsburg said that she had an exit clause. The three-year contract in Wolfsburg starts in July.
